If I read one more story beginning with "Neanderthal voice heard for the first time in 30,000 years" I'm stabbing someone.

Speaking of which, the voice of Neanderthals has been heard for the first time in 30,000 years.

I haven't been able to find a recording so I assume they never released one, but it's a cool thing to have simulated. Coincidentally, right after I read somewhere else that there was controversy over whether Neanderthals could speak until a hyoid bone was found in one of the skeletons.

Aw, man. If they really sounded like that, that's like...Abe Lincoln turning out to sound like Joan Rivers.

No, Lincoln had a shrilly high-pitched voice. I'm not sure if that's better or not.

I've heard that, but I've never actually read that. Was it noted in some biography somewhere?

Y'know, I'm not really sure where I first heard it. A Google search for "abraham lincoln voice" turns up a couple references, but that doesn't really mean anything. Hopefully, now that I said it, it won't turn out to be one of those things you always hear which aren't actually true.
