David Bowie recently expressed his views on the future of music in an interview:
quote:I don't even know why I would want to be on a label in a few years, because I don't think it's going to work by labels and by distribution systems in the same way. The absolute transformation of everything that we ever thought about music will take place within 10 years, and nothing is going to be able to stop it. I see absolutely no point in pretending that it's not going to happen. I'm fully confident that copyright, for instance, will no longer exist in 10 years, and authorship and intellectual property is in for such a bashing.
Music itself is going to become like running water or electricity. So it's like, just take advantage of these last few years because none of this is ever going to happen again. You'd better be prepared for doing a lot of touring because that's really the only unique situation that's going to be left. It's terribly exciting. But on the other hand it doesn't matter if you think it's exciting or not; it's what's going to happen.
quote:The swedish paradise should be a global paradise
Today, a debate article was published in one of Sweden's national newspapers by several antikopimists. The words were burning with hatred and hostility. They encourage persecution of information and an alarming primitivism filled with reactionary anti-internet propaganda. They refer to Sweden as the “pirates paradise”. We think that Sweden being the pirate paradise is problematic. The paradise should not have borders. We are not pirates, we share information. We encourage the Swedish government and foreign department to draw up a plan to export the Swedish sharing success through intergovernmental organizations and foreign aid, so that all the people of the world can live in copying, internet and love. We bless everyone who’s building the paradise of information sharing by copying every day, through their personal computers and servers, through their mobile phones and their pads.
Copy is holy, copy is right. Copy and seed. Data be with you.

im not worried. It's only gonna be important as long as you have electicity. once the oil is gone, once the wars happen for resources (history shows its what we did before and will do again, soo easy...), things like this... wont matter. Unless someone strikes it with a perpetual or renewable energy source, things like this wont matter in a 100 years, +/-.
what Mr Bowie didnt say was that other people, will take it upon themselves (power corupts!) to claim, copy and steal IPs. You call it Copy & Paste, others will call it theft. Law vs Chaos. its denying people the ability to make a profit from their hard work. china does it. Other countries do it, likely we do it too (power corupts, after all).
All this talk keeps reminding me of 'Shadowrun'...
