So, I probably just did a big no-no and suspended registrations until we can figure out how to stop the spam bots. Hopefully the Mighty One will have mercy on me. [Frown]

So, it may be time to delete all my on-line shopping accounts then... or at least the ones that store credit card info.

I think it would easier to just release Cobra Commander and then follow him to their secret hideout(it's usually in some giant cobra-themed natural formation, visible from space).

That or it's just a new breed of spambots hitting at roughly the same time this other nonsense is going down- after all, it's not like that Jullian guy is really that Becky person and we degraded his online alternate-lifestyle-alter-ego....right?

I mean...what are the odds?
(sorry Jullian!)

I often see spambots attacking en masse forums which are abandoned or have little activity, allowing them to spread without fear of moderators shutting them down. I'm guessing this is the case with Flare, where the spambots are assuming no one's home.

Given the number of spambots I've had to ban from the mostly-dead hockey comm on LJ I help maintain?

Yeah, this is about it. Although at least here the shit ends up on top of everything, so it's easy to find. This one year-old post keeps piling on spam I have to delete, and the only reason I know it's getting spammed is because I'd started tracking it a year ago to avert a flamewar.

These spider hacking things make me think of giant mechanical spiders attacking at the windows of Flare. And the Flare forums are a giant glass-covered sky-scraper. Has anyone been down to the lobby and checked the doors? Hrmm. Maybe it's more like the Cloverfield moster!?! [Smile]

Gawd, get a load of the recent new members names too. They're beginning to adapt! Can someone modulate the forum shield frequency??
