I guess I'll open up a thread here to discuss the less techy aspects of the Season 4 premiere.

I didn't think "Storm Front" was great, although it wasn't anywhere near as bad as it could have been, given the "what the heck" cliffhanger Coto had to resolve.

Oddly, the best aspect of the two-parter was the one that I thought was going to be the worst: Silik. Don't get me wrong, I thought most of the Temporal Cold War episodes were pretty good. Silik, however, was more often than not portrayed as a whiny loser who couldn't think his way out of a paper bag without Future Guy's help. Here, he actually shows some intiative without having to call his master every five seconds.

While on the subject of Silik, I was pleasantly suprised that he didn't betray Archer and try to buddy up to Vosk (as I could have sworn I had read in spoilers). Silik's death was handled pretty well, and while it's entirely possible Silik is still alive in the Vosk-less timeline, I think that's as good as a final appearance as he's going to get.

So the Temporal Cold War is "winding down?" Pretty obvious that they've left the door cracked open to do another TCW episode if they want to, especially considering how we still have no idea who Future Guy is and what his long-term goal was.

And I don't blame Archer for being indignant with Daniels. Honestly, he's had his mission messed with by the future since Day One. Sure, Daniels seemed to be the "good guy" in all of this, but he still never hesitated to involve Archer whenever it suited him.

And Vosk is from the 29th Century... Must not have evil thoughts... Must not have evil thoughts...

*Has evil thoughts*

Darn.

So Vosk is from the 29th century, which is the same time (I guess) as the Starfleet/Timefleet U.S.S. Relativity, whose job it is to find anomalies in the timeline & set them straight. So...why didn't they show up? Did Daniels visit them & tell them that they could take a vacation while he did all the work?

I think that the Relativity is a preventative service rather than part of the TCW. We've seen on various occasions that in general, temporal problems that start in a particular century are usually policed and cleaned up by people from that time. It's the persnicketty groups of people who are interfering with past and future on a large scale that attract the attention of other such groups, causing the TCW. Relatively isolated events originating from their own times are the domains of the Kirks and Janeways and Braxtons to clean up.

Great music in these. I've found Enterprise is consistantly good in this department

I was wondering when he'd finally comment on it. And I must say I agree with most of his opinions.

So do I. Actually I wouldn't mind if Enterprise was finally laid to rest after season 4. The fact that the DVD sets will be released next year certainly seems to be a slight nod in that direction...

Everything releases DVD sets after the season ends now, I hardly call this a sign of the end.

I was watching the episodes again and found an apparent mistake in the events of the alternate timeline war. In Part I the German general mentions that the Russians are planning on an attack to retake Moscow. Yet in Part II Reed goes on at length about Russia not being involved in the war and Germany concentrating on the West. Oops.

Doesn't Reed instead say that Russia "posed no danger" to Germany?

Poland, Denmark, Norway and Greece posed no danger to Germany, either. Doesn't mean they weren't involved in the war... And Hitler wasn't concentrating on the East, the North or the South in those campaigns, either. When taking the East and the North, he was concentrating on the West; when taking the South, he was concentrating on the East. (Ever wonder why the Nazi symbol looks like a windmill? [Wink] )

OTOH, one could say that Moscow wasn't part of Russia in that timeline. Even if Lenin died, there could have been a coup to topple the Czar (remember that in our timeline, the coup happened in two stages: first the Czar was toppled, then the bolshevik communists toppled the government that had toppled the Czar). The resulting unrest could have sawed Russia in half, the western half volunteering to join Germany, the eastern half bitterly contesting this and trying to retake the former capital.

Finally watched "Storm Front" pt. 1 (missed it the first time).

Try to google with these:

thule, haunebu, andromeda, vril

Enjoy the results! [Wink]

Or if you are too lazy to search for yourself - this page sums it up quite nicely:

(Note that these crazy theories have been around for decades - it was only a matter of time before Berman and Braga would find out about the potential for a crappy Trek tie-in... [Roll Eyes] )

You know, Storm Front would have been a lot better if they'd used some of these ideas.

I knew I didn't miss much.
