that round torpedo hole on the 'heads' of bird of prey's why haven't we during the Dominion war see them fire from there - like 'Call to Arms' we only see say the Rotaran fire from its side 'wing' disruptors...

Ever since the BoP arrived in the TNG era that forward torpedo hole has rather lost its viciousness. In ST3 the thing let rip with a nasty little zap. In all recent uses it's spat out its load with a rather limp "ffffut!". The disruptor cannon on the Vorcha class in Redemption was similarly unimpressive.

It's likely TPTB just prefer to animate on the green disruptor blasts, rather than go to the effort of a torpedo, with its initial "launching" flash.

Actually, I think that the use of the front cannon in Redemption is pretty good. Coloured bolts which provide more punch if you ask me.

Don't forget the BoP in STVI. Very vicious there. And perhaps the one in ST:Generations.

I've also noticed something, the forward cannons on the Vor'Cha and the K'Tinga cruisers in Way of the Warrior shot out lasers rather than torpedoes, which I found strange. As well, nowadays, it appears that the forward cannon is no more than a simple disruptor cannon simply beefed up.

The Vor'cha has always been equipped with a huge disruptor on the front.

*whispers "Phasers!"*

Okay, some sort of Disruptor phaser ok? But watch the ep, you'll see a phaser coming out of the forward cannon on BOTH those ships. No disruptor bolts or Torpedoes whatsoever.

Uh, yeah, yeah. But you said lasers, which is what I was talking about.
