On the Miranda class starships, those of them that have a rollbar included a photon torpedo bay. Now we know from ST VI that there was a torpedo storage area on the Enterprise that kept all the torpedos when not on use and then transferred them down the torpedo bays. Where on the Miranda would they be? There doesnt seem to be enough room in the rollbar for a storage area. So where do they keep the torpedoes not in use? And if they keep them in the saucer how do they get up to the launcher?

Granted that this particular package is non-canon, the set of Miranda plans that I have shows the pod as a two-deck structure. The launch assembly is on the upper deck, and the storage bay is below. At any rate, if you compare the size of the pod to the dorsal structure of the Enterprise, I would think the E would have more of a storage space problem than the Reliant (unless you assume that the dorsal is totally dedicated to torpedo storage).

Only if the torpedoes were pre-loaded with reactants would that matter... then again, why would you want to put that kind of piping through the rollbar?

To arm the inert torpedo casings up in the weapons pod? But still, using th epylons as the magazines doesn't really work considering the massive vent-like details on said pylon.

Well one theory that I have and maybe you guys can tell me if it is feasible is that inside the launcher itself is a replicator and instead of an actual bay it just replicates torpedos in the launcher.

Maybe yes, maybe no. The food synthesizers in TOS were rudimentary replicators. They got the nutrition and flavours right, but weren't able ot match the appearance.

I doubt torpedo casing storage is a problem at all. You can stack a hundred of those easily in a space smaller than the torpedo deck set of ST2. On the Reliant, the said set probably would BE stacked with the said casings, if the system was fully automated: the empty room is there merely for the crew to move about, and to assemble for silly parades.
Antimatter introduction *is* more of a problem for the Mirandas. I guess having AM leads from main hull to pod would be an acceptable sacrifice, if it allows the ship to be built in a modular manner and operated without the pod when needed. We know Khan's ship was intended to be a superior combatant at some script stages, but she was also intended to be a "science vessel". Making her more vulnerable in combat than a Connie is by no means a bad move, dramatically or treknologically.

Well, a Miranda could have carried half a dozen torpedoes for all we know. How many did the Relient actually fire in the movie, three, four? Space just isn't that big of an issue. It seems like the shipbuilders/modelmakers of the time had a bad habit of making certain parts of the ship inaccessable. Look at the Grissom.
