Hi,

I know that there was a previous post about phaser beam color at various settings, however I have some basic questions about the settings of the Type II TOS phaser weapon, and for that matter, the type I phaser. 1) exactly how many settings does a TOS phaser II have and what are they from lowest level (obviously stun) to most powerful (excluding overload)? and 2)What stun setting is it thatfires a green flash rather than a beam? any help would be apppreciated.

1. Kirk identifies "force three" as the kill setting in "Operation: Annihilate!", and of course we've heard of stun and heavy stun. We've also heard of phasers set to one-quarter, as employed against Dr. Crater in "Man Trap". And, of course, there are vaporization settings and "disruptor beam" settings as employed against the cloud creature of "Obsession".

2. The green flash stun effect was, to my knowledge, only seen once in "Spock's Brain", a.k.a. "The Episode We Like To Forget". I'm pretty sure phasers were set to stupid throughout the episode.

If there's one thing I've learnt, it's "Never expect any sort of sense where the TOS phasers are concerned." The props themselves varied widely in terms of shape (some of them weren't even symmetrical), colour and detailing.
