Wow, star trek.com has posted pics of the gorn ship, go to this link and check it out. Fairly ugly I would say, but I really like the fact that its a drasticly new design!

Weird. I'm getting something of an Oberth vibe from the overhead view here...

Oh man, youre right, now why didnt I see that. Even the dome is vagely oberth-esque..

But I stand by my statement, it looks fairly unique and alien. (at least its not green..)

But is that because they chose not to make it green, or because it appears to lack anything but default materials?

Actually, it was a joke in response to someones comment on trekbbs where the poster said that every alien ship on Star Trek was green. And obviously thats not the case, but the artists do seem to like green, romulans, klingons, orions, many aliens from "Enterprise" and so on.

I'm probably not the first person to say it, but I said that over here.

As for the Gorn ship, I'm trying to work out that secondary hull in my head. It looks like a fifth nacelle to me.

Hey, I post at TrekBBS as well. But only in the Art and Tech forums. I stay away from the rest of them.

Oooh, and there's K-7 as well(although obviously not a new design, thank goodness).

The Gorn design is fairly good. I mean, it's quite a basic model, so there's not an awful lot to go on. The nacelles on the top are very similar to the 1701 and Romulan BoP's ones, I think I actually like that though. It seems like a TOS thing to do.

Fucking WHOA.

That is some nice alien shit, man, & it TOTALLY assfucks the 40 years of prevailing fandom concept that the Gorn philosophy is "push hard until it moves--who cares what it looks like?" Nice as shit.

Also, I see that on Miri's world, the island of Hainan is actually connected to the mainland.

Baddass design- I agree with Shik here- it rocks.
No other race is more maligned by games and fandom than the Gorn- both FASA and SFB use them as third-rate bozos with inferior tech- despite the Gorn in Arena clearly being tough and having cutting edge ships.

... So with nothing to compare it to, we can only marvel in this design that reinforces the concept that to achieve warp speed capabilities, nacelle-type structures are required and that a dorsal command center/bridge is also standard.

I have to disagree with the second part about the bridge, but I think the design is pretty neat. Of course, seeing it with textures would help.

Why does the screen cap from "Arena" look all blurry, but this image is so much better?

Are they going to go back and change episodes they've already tweaked once?

I think it started with green working better for cloaking effects and spiralled out of control from there.
