Here's my work in progress build of a new First Contact era design- a "class of 94" looking ship- like the Soverign, Sabre, Akira, Norway, etc.

It's 2500th scale and made mostly from a pair of those black Futara (candy-toy) bases.
Starting out:

http://pic90.picturetrail.com/VOL2210/657989/1227830/312791744.jpg

Currently,it's drying from Dullcoat in these pics and still needs the nacelles attached- after I decal the ventral side, that is! [Big Grin]

A couple of pre-decal pics (the lower two, obviously) showing the ventral side.

The idea behind the build was to make a TNG-era update on the Delta John eaves made from Enterprise:

What do you guys think so far?

The pile of ships... of of those certainly reminds me of a FASA design (the one on the left, with tear drop primary hull with the stretched aft section and lower v nacelles... what is that... *thinks*

how many of those scratch-builds to you have? how big are they?

Very Nice, though without those nacelles it looks likea shuttle craft or captain's yacht that could detach from a larger ship like the sovereign.

Very nice! Reminds me of part of the top of the saucer on the Sovereign Class (where it points out - not the round part, obviously). Would like to see the finished version!! [Smile]

I'll have the shp finished tomorrow probably- pics then!

I also have an Altair prototype (that that SOTL image) done up this way, with Soverign parts instead of the super-advanced Enterprise J parts.
That one's a ways further from completion than this batch of models though.

Pensive is dead on- that other build is a Baker class destroyer update made and sold by Ravenstar Studios and built up by me as a W359-era ship.
I need to decal the ventral side of that as well and also add it's nacelles.

I guess I just build ships from top-down.

Pensive, all my ships are 1:2500th scale and there are 100+ builds of various sizes- most have been photographed
here.

This sorta started out with that notion- the idea was to have the Endeavour design split something like this- leaving a recessed Defiant-like battle-bridge at the center of the saucer. the notion I had was that the fast and agile seperated section would engage an enemy while the larger section either escaped or double-teamed the enemy ship.

maybe eventually....or with the Altair wing ship [Wink]

Jason, I think my favorite is the Halifax. That thing is just beautiful. Did you name your Aegian Class U.S.S. Weber after the schematic I drew up years ago? If not, it's an amazing coincidence [Smile]

The Weber was indeed named after your illustration- not my best build, but that was from waaay back then.
Hmmm...we even had a discussion on this back then- I know you were involved, but am too lazy to dig through the Flare archives for the thread. [Wink]

The odd thing is that Ravenstar Studios used my model as visual reference for their resin kit- so your drawing has indirectly led to dozens of modelers having this ship in their fleets.
Nifty, no?

The Halifax is a Ravenstar design from a few years back- it's one of my alltime favorite builds and I think it turned out great.
Not too many like the design though- I really dig it- particularly the nacelles.
It's a ballsy DS9-era Deadalus.

Here ya go Aban- that thread on the model from waaaay back in 2003.

Hmmm...mining those old threads for ideas is paying off- we had a thread from 2004 with pics of FC storyboards showing all sots of strange unused Alex Jager designed ships.

Might have a go at a couple. [Wink]

Regarding the hallifax, I'll try to take some better pics for you- the ship is now mounted towards the Klingon side of my now-Allied Fleet display: three bookcases across with the Romulans and Klingons being seperated by Starfleet.

Kinda Neapolitan Trek. [Big Grin]

Yah, I'd love to have some hi res pics of that ship. That's worth a drawing of some kind. Of course, I still all my references and drawings in a folder for the Antares Class drawing that I fully intend on getting to some day...

Well, I'm F-U-K-T fucked.

It seems I left my camera at work a few weeks back and someone stole it (in keeping with the holiday spirit, of course).

So, the good news is that I have finished ALL the models I was working on- even that damn Gorn battleship that I've been dicking around with for a year!

The bad news is that, unless I can borrow a camera, I cant show anyone what I have done! And they look good.
I know I'm not supposed to say that about my own work, but they turned out very much to my liking.

Rev, I cant post any new pics of the halifax, but I found the original pics that were used to sell the kit.

You can see that I did a lot of wok with ustom decals! [Wink]
