Does anybody have a scan of the ship that was featured on the latest ST mag....

Apparently it's called the USS Aventure or something close to that.

My buddy that I was chatting to, told me it was a non-canon ship. I thought it was weird at ST mag feature a ncanon ship.

It's called the Aventine.

i guess cannon & non-cannon will be harder with so many different things going on with the property (how the books go the direction of destiny, STO's direction, & the JJverse)

but if it gets printed on some media as offically endursed by paramount (the caledars, book covers) do that make it cannon... does it have to be a tv show or movie as the tried & true bench mark?

Guess they'll make anyone captain these days.

there's no way a counselor in the medical department with zero command experience could have risen to the ran of captain this short a time after DS9 ended.

I've got the picture of the Aventine from the calendar as my desktop right now. But I don't like the angle shown there as much.

Aban, have you read any of the current Destiny & post-Destiny series books? Think Yesterday's Enterprise Feddy status + several thousand surviving ships... the way the plot goes, it makes STO's story line look cheerful (the Breen? weeeee... the Devidians? weeeee...)

Actually, Ezri became captain before the whole Caeliar thing. It was a Picard scenario, really. She was the first or second officer (I forget which), everyone above her was killed, she took over, etc.

But even before that, didn't she decide she wanted to move to command? It wasn't like they made the counselor the first officer...

I would surmise that when choosing Trill for positions in Starfleet, especially command, they would go by the host only. Just because one of the symbiote's previous hosts was a captain, doesn't mean the current host has what it takes, y'know?

True, but given Ezri's unique situation, it might have been easy for her.

In fairness, I haven't read the books. So, I suppose alot could've happened between WYLB and now. I just don't see cute little 95 lb. Ezri Dax commanding a state-of-the-art starship. But like I said... I haven't read them. So I can't really judge.

The Ds9 books are really very good- unfortunately, the TNG, Voy and Titan stuff (not to mention the excretable New Frontier) are utter complete shit.

Really- a steaming pile of shit, held in your hands would be far superior an experience to books like Resistance, where he find out the Borg Queen is made when drones excrete "royal jelly" and...well, need I say more, really?
