The BBC have revealed the new logo for the Matt Smith era of Doctor Who, starting in 2010. Quite a switch from the previous one - what do you think? Love it? Hate it? Indifferent to it?

*EDIT* Woops, probably should include this link if you happen to be outside of the UK - the animated version seems to be for us UK bods only.

Works for me. The current one always seamed a little generic for my tastes anyway, at least this one has a more direct stylistic connection to the show.

I'm always curious how people tend to use that word as a negative, especially when it's actually means something smooth and pleasant.

Bland, tasteless, plain, normal... Not a negative but neutral, borderline negative (but you have to use the standard of if it isn't elite, then it blows, then)

Less is more. It's slightly reminiscent of the very first "Doctor"-logo from the 50's, but with intriguing corner embellishments on the D, W and H, making me think of cogwheels and timepieces. I never liked the cat's eye logo.

Makes me think 'supernatural 1970s cop show' not galavanting around the universe (well mostly Earth) Dr Who. Looks cool though. *Shrug* Who knows or cares until we see the Matt Smith stuff.

While I still think it looks bland, at least it presents the show name more clearly than its predecessor, which was stamped onto a brightly colored lozenge thing.

The "Taxicab logo" it's apparently called, which is a very good name for it.

The "R" is very sexy. Boba Fetty. "Men in Black" could've used a font like this, what they had was bland.
This font is something I'd like to save for reference for my job. I often use MicroGamma or Prototype for the more authoritarian and heavy adverts (banks, insurance companies). This is in that ballpark, but not as sterile and uncompromising as those. Robust and aged, yet with a certain flair.

No, but he might have printed off the logo, swirled it around in his mouth and then spit it out into a silver bucket. It helps if you read everything from "This is in that ballpark..." onwards in a Lloyd Grossman-style accent.
