Who's going to get it?

With 480 minutes of extra features, there's no doubt that I will!

Good for you.

Amazon has The Phantom Menace for a 10/16/01 release date. They've no release dates for the other Star Wars films, so who knows?

But there's no added scenes or bits? Like Kenobi's wet, dysfunctional sabre after clearing the droid ship?
I'm not that interested in "Behind The Scenes" stuff, but bonus footage would be great...

In other words, lots of shit that doesn't really add to the movie itself.

"Exclusive Deleted Scenes Documentary features seven new sequences completed just for this DVD release"

Did they insert the "deleted" scenes in the movie or did the idiots bundle them into a documentary that you must watch separately??? And wtf is a "sequence"?

No, the deleted scenes haven't been added into the film.

They're avaliable on the side, most likely in a "deleted scenes" section, like on most DVDs.

The seven deleted scenes are:

1) Complete Podrace grid sequence
2) Extended Podrace second lap sequence
3) The waterfall sequence
4) The Air Taxi sequence
5) Dawn before the race
6) Anakin's scuffle with Greedo
7) Farewell to Jira (hopefully this includes the bit where Qui-Gon cuts down a Sith Probe before leaving the city)

I very much wanted to see the scene where Obi-Wan fries his saber and Qui-Gon lectures him about it, but alas...it appears that scene will not be included. Ah well.

The audio commentary should be interesting though! As will the multi-angle animatics/effects sequences.

The burning question is, of course, why release TPM and not the original Star Wars Trilogy? And why not Indy?!?!?!?!

Settle down, Mr. Beer. Don't blow your top and go away to a galaxy far, far away. Preferably that, actually. Indy, said the SW Insider, might be released next year. As for the original SW, it will have a lot more things, and might be released in the coming years. That is speculation, though.
