You know, I'm quite limited to radio stations where I live. If I don't want to listen to soft rock, classic rock, oldies, christian or really out there alternative music, then there's no station to tune into. K100 and 97.3 The Wave play soft rock all the time, C98 plays classic rock, 94.1 CHSJ plays oldies, and there's a radio station out at the Uni that plays really out there stuff. Usually stuff performed by students, I think.

Now, there's actually a point to all this. As I was on my way home from work with my mom, I heard the song "Outta My Head" by Kylie Minogue on K100. Now, this shocked me as K100 rarely plays any music that I like to listen to, which is mostly dance/techno/house/etc. I had originally heard "Outta My Head" on BPM:TV, which is Canada's Dance mudic video station. Sadly, I only had the station for a limited preview as it's one of the new digital channels. Each channel is a certain amount on top of our monthly payments, and we already pay a lot (200+ channels aren't cheap), so it's unlikely I'll get BPM again. But, I was pleasantly surprised by this, and maybe this might be the start of some new music around here.

You can't do anything around here without hearing "Outta my head" (or at least you couldn't a couple of months ago).

Ahh, Kylie. She of the magic arse.

Run by a local high school... plays stuff you might enjoy. Unfortunately, the net broadcast isn't really high quality.

One Station here in Toronto, Kiss 92.5 FM, absolutely refuses to play U2 at all. And they are supposed to play Today's greatest hits. I mean, they usually play Rap and R&B, but they also play David Usher, JackSoul, Barenaked Ladies, Sarah MacLachlan, even Celine Dion, and so on, but they rip U2 any chance they get, and whenever someone requests U2, they get a verbal berating live on air. Sheesh.

And everyone I know says it is the best station in Toronto. Ugh.

Erm... You said there were no stations on which you could listen to those genres, then you listed at least one station for every one of them. Then you went on to say that this "K100" doesn't play anything you want to hear, because you want to hear dance music. If you want to hear dance music, and not soft rock, what was that tirade at the beginning about?

I really don't understand at all what you're talking about.

I said if I don't want to listen to those music genres, then there isn't a radio station that I can tune into. But, I'm probably not making much sense anyways. That happens frequently.

But I suppose that my main gripe is that there isn't much variety here when it comes to radio stations. That's what I get for living near a small-ish city.
