I'm not exactly sure what I did to my computer, but now I have a problem. When I open a folder containing .JPG files, I used to get small thumbnail previews of each file on the left-hand side of my screen when I clicked on the file name once (when I had the View setting to "view as Web Page"). Now, I don't. However, it still works with other types of picture files, like bitmaps and .ART files. Can someone please help? I'm trying to organize my pictures so that I can burn them onto a CD, but it's really annoying that I can't generate the preview & have to actually open the file to see what it is.

This problem has plagued me on several computers so far. I have no idea what kind of installation you have to do to get the preview option, but it seems to get nullified when any other program takes the .jpg type for itself. That can be fixed in folder options, but for some reason after that it never works. I find a program with a preview feature (like PhotoShop, LView or even *shudder* AOL) is helpful... i just go to the 'Open' tab in the program, flip thru pics there, and it even lets you drag them off the 'open' box and into another open folder exploration. Anyone else know what the deal is with this?

First off, what OS? If its Win98, the only problem I can think of is that you might have installed a program with viewing capabilities that might work well with Win98(Quicktime perhaps?) If its Windows 2000 there are several settings for Thumbnail view in the folder options.

Along with XP. XP and 2K are pretty much the same thing. You set the thumbnail view in the sidebar through folder options, and you also have the Thumbnail option in the Right Click->View menu.

I have a similar problem. Often times .PSD files (Photoshop) will show up, but others won't. Sometimes .JPGs work, sometimes they don't. I always assumed it was a file size issue or something.

This has happened to me on both 95 and 98. Both times I suspect it was a quicktime auto-install that got past me and rewrote my file associations. and both times it never worked right again until i replaced the OS.

I always hate these threads. They never degenerate into something interesting to read.

Audience: "OHHHHHH! OOOOOOH!"

Jerry: "Backstage we have your wife. Let's bring her out!"

Wife: "You lousy son of beep. You've been beep the modem!? You beep beep beeeeeeeeeeeep..."

Audience: "Jerry! Jerry! Jerry"
