I was watching the live coverage of the vote on the local news. I was quite pleased to see that my area's senator (Grisanti) was one of the 2 republicans to shift to a yes vote tonight.
I do have to say though, that I really wished all the senators to speak would have just said their piece and shut the hell up (I'm speaking more of Duane and Diaz than anyone else) They both rambled on and on...Diaz in all his homophobic glory, and Duane in a justifiably emotional...but not really pertinent ramble.

Sgould be hilarious to see the Republican presidential nominee hopefulsrespond to this- particularly Michelle Bachman. She's so over the top homophobic it's frightening to thing she keeps getting re-elected.
But how will they trash a law that passed with bipartisan support? Surely the head of the so-called Tea Party would not be for "activist judges" striking down the will of the people?

I'd think a lot of gay folks would be moving to the Empire State to enjoy some freedom- could really boost their econemy if there's a big influx.

Plus...and this will sound weird coming from a straight guy, the gay communities seem to be...nicer. Cleaner. Not a bunch of garbage on the streets, nicely maintained buildings with good paint, etc. At least it's like that here in Fort Lauderdale.
Odd that such supposedly hedonistic people should maintain a nicer public living environment than the average family-filled suburb.
