Okay. Here's another installment of SSA. This installment of the game includes a revision of the rules. Species, Starship, or Anomaly is the title of the game, however the object to be guessed doesn't have to be a species, starship, or anomaly. Under the species category, you can have a specific person. Under the starship category you can have anything man made, as well. Under the anomaly category, you can have anything in space. Along with these additional rules, the questions go up. You can now ask 25 questions.

It doesn't necessary kill the starship category. Gomtuu is a natural starship. But that's about it.

I did look. I don't see how any of that prohibits telling me whether it emits visible spectrum EM radiation or not.

Well, actually... Anything under the species category would be alive, so that's ruled out. Most stuff under the starship category would be artificial. The few that are natural (actually, the only one we know of is Gomtuu) are alive. So, that does only leave anomalies.

And aren't you going to answer as to whether or not it generates visible light?

Not everything that falls under the category of species would be alive. As "species" now includes individuals it could be a dead individual (or even an extinct species, I guess). A better question would be "is it now, or has it ever been alive". So I'd say that the species category is still open.

Okay. Omega said it had to be an anomaly. That's not true. It may be in the anomaly category, but it doesn't have to be an anomaly.

And as I said, that question will have to be elaborated on.

Well, by that standard, no one seen on Trek except Soran, Khan, the "Neutral Zone" people, Guinan, etc. are now alive.

Good point. So, depending on this next question's answer, it's either a life form or group of life forms who is/are not alive at the present, or it is some sort of spacial body. Of course, since it can't fit inside spacedock, that would mean that it's either an anomaly, or some sort of life form that is now dead that is too large for spacedock, and is thus likely spaceborne. That darned amoeba, possibly?

Oh, and let's define the present as a specific time frame, shall we? We're dealing with well over 100 years. I'd assume that we're talking the current season of Voy, but what're you using, Fabrux? Just want to be sure.

Question: Was it ever alive?

Elaboration: does said SSA emit light? Meaning to luminesce, to give off light not reflected from another source. Effectively, could you see it in a room with no other possible light source in it (assuming there was a big enough room)?

Well, now we're sure it fits under "anomaly". Not luminous, and larger than spacedock. Still a wide field. Could be any planet we've ever seen. So...

Its not a MAJOR planet
It was first seen/heard of in a Modern Trek TNG/DS9 (can't be Voyager)
We haven't seen any of the planets inhabitants

Its not Risa nor Earth

This is a little too obscure for my taste.

OK, we've never seen it, nor any of its inhabitants. That means it has to have been simply mentioned in a conversation or log. Probably in TNG, since it's from modern trek, and DS9 and Voy didn't see many fed worlds.

Well, the question would still apply, since anything in DS9 came after the begining of TNG season 4. Not that I'm complaining, mind you.

OK just to rephrase that question a little broader if I might - is the planet... natural? i.e. Terraformed - or naturally occuring

IIRC, Berengaria was one of the planets Winn mentioned when listing planets 'Fleet might have to sacrafice to protect Bajor in "In the Cards". It was included with the likes of Vulcan, Andor, and Earth. If that's correct, I'd say it constitutes a major planet.

Casperia prime, OTOH...

'Course, that was never established to be a Fed world.

Anyone know where Bashir's med confefences were to take place the two times he was kidnapped (by S31 and the Dominion)?

Then there was that planet where Quark was supposed to testify before a Fed grand jury about the Orion Syndicate. Inferna Prime, or something like that?

Even better: anyone have a list of established Fed planets and where they were mentioned we could go through? It seems to be about the only way to go about this.

I think Creighton's site has a list of planets similar to his list of starships.

And Berengaria needn't be a major planet. It might just be in a really bad spot, that it needs protecting. When I think of major planets I think of the ones whose inhabitants we see all the time (Earth, Vulcan, Betazed, Bolias, etc.) or the ones we know to be major, even thought they're never shown anymore (Andor, Tellar, etc.).
