Okay, I'll give you 27 questions. Yes, that's right: twenty-seven. I'm weird like that.

So, have at it.

I'd ask if it was bigger than Frank's ego, but nothing's bigger than that...

Does it appear specifically in the TOS era?

"I object to all this sex on the television. I mean, I keep falling off!"

Well, honestly, I don't know what episodes actually showed the SSA in and of itself. However, there have been more than three episodes in which you could see something which allowed you to surmise that the SSA was there, if not physically visible on screen. So long as you undertsand this, I'm saying "yes".

If by "specifically" you mean "only", the answer to the TOS question is "no".

Summary:
It is bigger than Frank.
It will not fit in Spacedock as of ST3.
It has appeared in more than three episodes and/or movies, under the conditions I've specified.
It did not appear in only TOS.

Is it, rather than an object, something made up of smaller, independent components?

Well, TSN told me that I won, but I feel bad about winning when I asked almost all the questions in this contest. I still want to go again, though.
