Go for it. I'll decide how many questions to limit you to when I see how long it's taking you to figure it out. Since the last one had a limit of thirty, I'll give you at least that many.

"I'll take 'Famous Titties' for 100."
"That's 'Famous Titles'..."

Anyway...

1. It is not the Civil War.
2. It is not part of a sci-fi fantasy or real life.
3. It is not part of a fictional book.
4. It is not sentient/self-aware.

BTW, bear in mind that I'm doing this as literally as possible. Exact wording is important in my answers. So don't assume that an answer says something that it actually doesn't. You might be generalizing something that the answer says very specifically.

Yeah, I prefer when it's strictly literal. BTW what's this jeopardy thing you're all doing?

Okay, so it's not part of real life (let's be pedantic, it's not part of real life now, maybe it was in the past). It's not part of a fictional book. That leaves.... some other kind of media, I'm thinking TV. TSN specified non-scifi. Hmmm... this is difficult.

Q. Is it a place?

Omega has pointed out to me that answers 2 and 22 seem contradictory. This isn't the first time this has given me trouble in answering. The thing is, there are two different ways to think about the answer. One way, it's a physical object. The other way, it's an abstract concept. So, since the other answers all make it very clear that the thing in question really does exist, keep in mind that, when I say in #2 that it isn't part of real life, I'm talking about the abstract concept that the object represents.

The only reason I specified Omega is because Omega asked the question, and he said "I". Therefore, I was answering in the same terms. I couldn't just say "you", because everyone would think it referred to themselves. And Omega didn't ask about anyone else, just himself.

And I want to refer you back to this again:

"BTW, bear in mind that I'm doing this as literally as possible. Exact wording is important in my answers. So don't assume that an answer says something that it actually doesn't. You might be generalizing something that the answer says very specifically."

I hate to give anything away, but you're doing exactly what I told you not to, on exactly the point I was concerned about.

Well, let's narrow this down a bit...

Were it listed in my library's catalog, would it be listed under the Reference section?

Omega (the "actively not wanting to lust" boy from Tenessee) and the Kama Sutra?

*Searches for appropriate smiley to insert*

Well, I believe that, strictly speaking, the Kama Sutra qualifies as a religious text, and I do have some of those...

Anyway!

Would this book be found in the non-fiction section of the average library? Include adult non-fiction, juvenile non-fiction, YA non-fiction, New non-fiction, and Large Print non-fiction, but NOT the biographies, as parts of the non-fiction section.

Does my library system own or have a record for it?

Okay, you know it's a non-seasonal, fictional book written between 1850 and 1951 in English, whose author is dead now, but was a man who lived in the UK and had a last name beginning w/ a letter from 'A' to 'G'. Surely this narrows it down enough that you can at least start getting close to the answer?

Was the film a recipient of any Academy Awards?

Is the title of the book a singular word?

Is it "Bleak House?" Is it "David Copperfield?" Is it "Mystery Of Edwin Drood?" Is it "Great Expectations?" Is it "Little Dorrit?" Is it "Our Mutual Friend?" Is it "A Tale Of Two Cities?"

I believe that will take it to #66 ... [Smile]

60. It is not Bleak House.
61. It is not David Copperfield.
62. It is not The Mystery of Edwin Drood.
63. It is not Great Expectations.
64. It is not Little Dorrit.
65. It is not Our Mutual Friend.

And that's question #65. The end. No-one wins.

Too bad, though. Because it was, in fact, A Tale of Two Cities. If you'd put those in a different order, you would have had it.

You unbelievable literalist assfuck.

"The letter--if not the spirit--of the law." You taken my current operating motto & used it against me.

I love you, Seor Nix. Let me bear your man-spudlings.

I figured it was A Tale of Two Cities. I've only heard of Copperfield, Great Expectations, and a Tale of Two Citites, and I figured it had to be the one that wasn't eligible.
