If you know me, you know that I am a big movie fan. Whether any of you are or not, here's a little game that may get you to think: you have to connect one actor to another (as in, through movies they've been in). THEY CANNOT HAVE BEEN IN THE SAME MOVIE. This is sort of like that Kevin Bacon commercial where he connects imself to the store clerk through all those random people.
Example:

Connect Russell Crowe to Sam Neill:

Russell Crowe was in "A Beautiful Mind" with Ed Harris, who was in "The Right Stuff" with Jeff Goldblum, who was in "Jurassic Park" with Sam Neill. Get it?

So, can anyone connect Patrick Stewart with Pierce Brosnan? Remember, IMDb is your friend!

Why do that when I can say that they were in "Death Train" together & be done with it? But if you insist...

Patrick Stewart & Brian Blessed in "I, Claudius" (1976)
Brian Blessed & Judi Dench in "Henry V" (1989)
Judi Dench & Pierce Brosnan in "Goldeneye" (1995)

Hrm.

Patrick Stewart was in X-Men (2000) with Halle Berry
Halle Berry was in Die Another Day (2002) with Pierce Brosnan

Hrm. Again.

Tshaw. Those links make it no fun...

In addition to Halle, Stewart's played against two more Brosnan-era Bond girls over the course of TNG's run, namely Teri Hatcher and Famke Janssen (the latter also in X-Men).

And, yes, there is "Death Train." I've never seen it over here, but I caught it on TV the last time I was in Ireland. Bizarre film.

How about extra marks for convolutedness and sticking within the genre?

Brosnan with Michael J Fox in Mars Attacks!
Fox with Christopher Lloyd in Back to the Future
Lloyd with William Shatner in Star Trek III
Shatner and Stewart in Star Trek Generations

edit: can take a step off that one...
Brosnan - Portman (Mars Attacks)
Portman - Neeson (SW ep 1)
Neeson - Stewart (Excalibur)

OK, new pair. Marks for creativity. Kate Mulgrew and Benicio del Toro.

Benico del Toro was in Joyride with Tobey Maguire.
Tobey Maguire was in Wonder Boys with Rip Torn.
Rip Torn was in The Cincinnati Kid with Ann-Margret.
Ann-Margret was in Interstate 60 with Christopher Lloyd.
Christopher Lloyd was in Camp Nowhere with Kate Mulgrew.

Hmm. I was album to make a 2-link connection from Ron Jeremy to Patrick Stewart using Trek.

Took a while to make this up, but...
Tom Cruise to Omar Sharif.
Try and figure that out...

Posted by U//Magnus (Member # 239) on :

Omar Sharif was in Ashanti (1979) with Peter Ustinov
Peter Ustinov was in Stanley Kubrick: A Life in Pictures (2001) with Tom Cruise

Posted by The_Tom (Member # 38) on :

Mulgrew - DeVito (Throw Momma from the Train)
DeVito - Norton (Death to Smoochy)
Norton - Pitt (Fight Club)
Pitt - del Toro (Snatch)

Cruise - Kilmer (Top Gun)
Kilmer - Sharif (Top Secret)
Pretty easy, no?

So the trick is to connect two actors together in as few links as possible, unlike the class ic "Six Degrees of Kevin Bacon" game? As most of the entries show, that's not too hard. The fun part is coming up with all the bizarre connections like you have to in the classic game, like Chris' attempt.

By the way, I can actually link myself to Kevin Bacon with six connections. 8)

Yeah that's what it is.
OK... Harrison Ford with Denzel Washington.

Posted by Malnurtured Snayer (Member # 411) on :

Yeah, it's going to be difficult to link two of the most popular actors in the film industry.

Um ... Denzel to David Morse (St. Elsewhere) to Jodi Foster (Contact) to Scot Glenn (Silence of the Lambs) to James Earl Jones (Hunt For Red October) to Harrison Ford (Patriot Games, Clear & Present Danger, Star Wars).

Shit. You can cut out both David Morse and Jodi Foster with Denzel and Scott both in "Courage Under Fire."

Oh, and wait, Scott Glenn was in "Acopalypse Now." And guess who was in that?

Denzel --> Scott --> Harrison.

Wow.

Now ... how about Dougray Scott and ... Sean Connery?

What about connecting Nichelle Nichols with Linda Park? [Big Grin]

The Oracle says: Nichelle Nichols has a Linda Park number of 3.

Nichelle Nichols was in Star Trek VI: The Undiscovered Country (1991) with David Warner
David Warner was in In the Mouth of Madness (1995) with Sam Neill
Sam Neill was in Jurassic Park III (2001) with Linda Park

Sean Connery was in Outland (1981) with Angus MacInnes
Angus MacInnes was in Enigma (2001) with Dougray Scott

Here's one that'll get you thinking: Kiefer Sutherland to Dennis Franz (no, not a TV connection).

Posted by Malnurtured Snayer (Member # 411) on :

Oh, this is so fucking easy.

Denniz Franz was in Hill Street Blues and NYPD Blue with David Carusoe, who was in Kiss of Death with Samuel L. Jackson, who was in A Time to Kill ... with Keifer Sutherland.

Posted by Vogon Poet (Member # 393) on :

"So fucking easy" if you ignore the phrase "no, not a TV connection." Kiefer Sutherland was in 1969 with Joanna Cassidy, who was in The Package with Dennis Franz.

Good job! I guess I have to think of some harder ones...I'll start researching.

What about Anthony Hopkins to Michael Douglas? I found an interesting credit with some other actors on the IMDb.

Posted by Malnurtured Snayer (Member # 411) on :

Well, Vogon, Samuel L. Jackson wasn't a TV connection, now was he?

Anthony Hopkins was in Spartacus with Kirk Douglas. Michael Douglas appeared with his father in "Cast A Giant Shadow", and is also slated to appear with him in the upcoming "Family Jewels."

Ah, but David Caruso was.

Posted by Malnurtured Snayer (Member # 411) on :

Okay. Fine.

Dennis Franz was in Die Hard 2 with Bruce Willis. Bruce Willis was in Die Hard 3 with Samuel L. Jackson. Samuel L. Jackson was in A Time To Kill with Keifer Sutherland. Keifer Sutherland was in A Few Good Men with Jack Nicholson. Jack Nicholson was in As Good As It Gets with Helen Hunt, who was in Curse of the Jade Scorpion with Wallace Shawn, who was in Princess Bride with Mel Smith who was in Twelfth Night with Helena Bonham Carter, who ...

Oh, nevermind.

Happy?

Mel Brooks and Bette Davis?

Paul Reubens was in (well, voiced) Disney's Hercules with George Takei. George Takei was in Star Trek: The Motion Picture with Persis Khambatta. So easy. [Smile]

Stumped on the other one, so far. Eh. I'll try later.

Bette Davis was in "Death on the Nile" with David Niven, who was in "Casino Royale" with Woody Allen, who was in "Curse of the Jade Scorpion" with Helen Hunt, who was in "Twister" with Cary Elwes, who was in "Robin Hood: Men in Tights" with Mel Brooks!

Er. Why did you feel it neccessary to change from Woody Allen's directing --> Harvey in ID4 -> Bill Pullman --> Spaceballs?

Posted by Veers (Member # 661) on :

Don't know. I thought directors wouldn't count. But since it is *my* thread, I guess they do.

Posted by Malnurtured Snayer (Member # 411) on :

Directors count, I would say. I wouldn't think other behind-the-scenes guy would, but certainly the director ... he's a big part of the film.

My six degrees of Kevin Bacon takes in suitably eclectic personages such as actors, directors, casting agents and, er, my grandmother. So there. 8P
