Description:
I will post a link to a zipped-file containing 5 song-clips of 2-10 seconds in length. Of the 5 songs there will almost always be 1-60s era, 1-70s era, 1-80s era and 1-90s/00s (era) song. The 5th song will be either 50s-era, an instrumental or a theme song.

Point scale:
0.5 pts. -> title correct, interpreter incorrect
1 pt. -> title correct, interpreter correct
1 pt. -> If you are the only one who got at least the title right.
2 pts. -> If you are the only one who got title and interpeter right and all other guesses are totally incorrect.

Batch Bonus:
0.5 pts. -> all titles correct
1 pt. -> all titles and all interpreters correct

Winner is the player, who has the most points after Round 100.

Highscore:
1.) TSN (33 points)
2.) Spike (14 points)
3.) The_Tom (10 points)
4.) Cartmaniac (8 points)
5.) Nim (6 points)
6.) Phoenix (4 points)

"What? Would you prefer nursery rhymes?"

Does it help that I would have gotten three of them if I had ever listened to them?

Posted by Futurama Guy (Member # 968) on :

They are all rather common songs you hear on the radio...can't say half of what Spike was playing ever made it across the pond.

EDIT: damn zip trouble again....

http://www2.gvsu.edu/~albaitia/29.mp3

Posted by Futurama Guy (Member # 968) on :

Okay...uploading takes waaay too long to do on a 56k so I came to my old univerisity (where i seem to still have the webspace I am using) and I can transfer the songs from disk to the webfolder directly without uploading anything.

The problem is that everytime I take stuff from my computer to the disk to the schools computer a proportionally large number of the zip files are corrupted....

Anyway I think we are only halfway through the game, I dont have the answers to the last one up yet...though I do recall that it did have a certain 'sci-fi' theme to it.

I will post the answers to the last one when I get home.

[Edit]
I do know that these were right...

29. Smash Mouth - "Walkin' on the Sun" {TSN}
30. Golden Earring - "Twilight Zone" (TSN, Cartmaniac)

You're not, but you are the only one who gets these Simons right, apparently...

Posted by TSN (Member # 31) on :

I don't think Simon would ever listen to something mainstream enough to have topped the charts.

Posted by Sol System (Member # 30) on :

Hey! I have recognized most, if not all, of these titles once the answers have been given, though I haven't been playing along.

Horrifyingly elitest statement for which anyone should feel justified in punching me in the face:

I wouldn't be caught dead with the majority of them in my MP3 folder, is all.

Posted by Futurama Guy (Member # 968) on :

This, by no means is any indication of my mp3 collection. Personally, my collection is 60s music, with some 70s spillover (about 6000 mp3s, largely of old [local] Michigan/Chicago/Ohio bands). Perhaps not much better by your opinions, but I don't care, I'm a 60s child at heart. [Razz]

Anyway, I was trying to diversify the songs a little because a fair number of Spikes songs were things I've never really heard on this side of the pond, as the radio is my primary source of auditary-knowledge. Knowing I could have easily done the same thing, I tried to post something mainstream in hopes of it being something midstream. Oh well.

Anywho, I declare this game a flop and might as well call it off. [Frown]

The last selection was:

Alice Cooper - "Poison"
Climax Blues Band - "Couldn't Get It Right"
Roy Orbison - "Pretty Woman" - {Spike}
Red Hot Chili Peppers - "Under The Bridge"
Gary Glitter - "Rock & Roll, Part II" (aka the "Hey" song you heard at sporting events performed by the kiddie pr0n culprit) [Wink]

{}- 2 points

Final scores in this blowout:

1.) TSN (33 points) - yay.
2.) Spike (16 points)
3.) The_Tom (10 points)
4.) Cartmaniac (8 points)
5.) Nim (6 points)
6.) Phoenix (4 points)
7.) Omega (1 point)

Well, if that was going to be the last round, I should have just participated and gotten my seven extra points.
