I'm not sure where to even begin with this one. As such, I think my thoughts are going to be a bit more random than usual.

First, Airiam has been infected by Brainiac. Like, no joke. The three dots that were flashing on her screen were clearly Brainiac's symbol. At least Airiam's gonna be getting some time in the spotlight. We still don't know exactly what her deal is.

Second, Spock suffers from dyslexia. The episode insists on calling it some Vulcan term that is described as "like dyslexia", but given that Amanda claims Spock inherited it from her... it's dyslexia. I'm not sure how I feel about this revelation. On the one hand, dyslexia is one of those conditions that isn't obvious, making it difficult to diagnose. Theoretically, there's no reason why we ever would have seen evidence of this before, especially given Sarek's claims that Vulcans can successfully treat the condition. On the other hand, given Discovery's penchant for inserting people, objects, and events into the timeline and practically daring fans to prove they weren't there all along, I feel like I'm less willing to go along with this than I would be if this was the show's first instance of a major retcon.

Other stuff... Uh...

We have only Georgiou's word that Leland's doodad was a memory extractor. I'm thinking she's trying to ascend Section 31's ladder using some typical Terran backstabbing.

So something upgraded Discovery's probe and sent it back. V'Ger reference?

And we're going to Talos IV. Interesting. We've even got the Talosians in the promo for next week's episode.

I've been wondering why Airiam was recast.

I'm getting tired of the whole "everything in time & galaxy wants to kill us all".

So... has General Order 7 not been established yet, in-universe? I’d think that Michael wouldn’t just dash straight to Talos IV, given previous experience ignoring orders.

It should've....unless they're gonna try & say that THIS was the reason for it & not "The Cage".

I'd imagine the original Airiam actor is probably kicking herself right now. She got recast as another crewman but I've not seen her more than once since. Nowhere near the prominence of the rest of the bridge crew, who we're all coming to know by name (except the Ops officer whose name I cannot remember no matter how many times I remind myself of it).

Bryce? Owosekun?

I’m still having trouble matching names and faces too. They’re all familiar but we don’t know or see enough of most of them to remember well yet. (I’m constantly getting Bryce and Rhys mixed up, myself.)

Owosekun is the ops officer in the fore starboard station. Pike called her “Owo” once or twice.

That bothered me some. Goes to the whole Uzo Aduba "call me Zoe" thing.
