I rather liked this episode, even if it had a few moments that I really think I'm gonna skip on any future rewatches.

Airiam's funeral was rather well done. It was very sad that all her memories had to be deleted rather than risk the AI still being there.

Lt. Nilsson takes over Airiam's position on the bridge. I'd really like to know what's up with this. Was Sara Mitich having some sort of reaction to the Airiam makeup, but the showrunners wanted to keep her on the show?

Burnham's parents were in Section 31, and developed the Red Angel suit. Oooooooooookay.

Spock and Burnham finally make up. I have to give the show credit; I thought this was a really nice scene.

Yeah, there was some disturbing stuff in this episode. Leland gets a bowlful of eye scream from the AI. What idiot built that thing with needles in it, anyways? And Burnham's scene in the chair was all kinds of no. Screaming, thrashing, burning... Ick.

And we spend the whole episode under the assumption that the Red Angel is indeed Burnham (as I speculated last week), only to find out that it's actually her mother. Was her mother's body never found at the scene of the Klingon attack? Or does wibbly-wobbly timey-wimey mean that she's fated to go back to the attack and die there?

Yeah, Nilsson/Motich was totally an "I C WUT U DID THAR" moment.

The smirks in sickbay as Spock & Burnham argued, tho.

Ooh, Sonja Sohn.

I wonder if Mrs. Burnham hopped in the suit during the attack and jumped uncontrolled into the AI future? Leland claims the suit was destroyed but he's not exactly reliable.

Big explosion + thing missing = explosion destroyed thing isn't really that wild a deduction, surely?

No, but if bodies weren't recovered and the suit wasn't recovered, and now we're seeing Ma Burnham with the suit...

I thought Michael had heard the Klingons killing both parents in their kitchen? Obviously the loophole here will be “heard, not seen”...

Can't wait to see their (probably) asinine attempt to explain how their household brand Section 31 became the top secret 24th century organisation.
