Sorry I've been too busy to do these weekly summaries for a while. Heck, I've only got the time to do this one since I've got Thanksgiving week off.

This episode is a biggie, so let's get to it.

We get yet another returning character in Edward Jellico, who tells Janeway (the real one) not to enter the RNZ and to destroy the Protostar if the Romulans capture it.

The kids are in need of parts to repair the Protostar's third nacelle after the battle with the Dauntless last episode. Okona leads them to the planet in the RNZ where he was headed anyway to drop off his cargo (which he lost last episode) and where they can get said parts.

Bombshell dropped as Okona's employer is a geneticist who quickly figures out that Dal isn't a member of any species; he's actually a rather extreme form of Augment probably made by those following in Arik Soong's footsteps. No wonder Dal set off a bunch of bells when being scanned a few episodes ago; he's the result of illegal genetical engineering.

Dal is so devastated by the news that he agrees to undergo a procedure to be implanted with a gizmo that brings out his latent genes. Suffice it to say that doesn't go well.

The Romulans catch up with the Protostar crew and HOLY COW I NEED THOSE UNIFORMS IN STO! Seriously, GREAT look for the Rommies. Okona slinks off, the kids run, and Murf (yes, Murf) finally kicks their butts.

Janeway reluctantly fires torpedoes into the RNZ to destroy the Protostar when it looks like the Romulans are about to take it, but veers the torpedoes away once it becomes obvious the Romulans lost.

Murf officially becomes the ship's security officer, Dal returns to normal once the implant is removed, and the Protostar is fixed.

The episode ends with ANOTHER bombshell being dropped: Ensign Asencia onboard the Dauntless is revealed to be ANOTHER Vau N'Akat from the future, who has a Drednok of her own! Too bad; I was really getting to like Asencia.

Since I haven't posted anything regarding this show in a while, I've got to say it's been impressing me since it (finally) came back from break. I'm pretty invested in it now.

Yeah, for a "kids' show", it's gotten pretty good. I'm tired of Soongs infiltrating everything, though.

Just finished watching the TrekCulture review of the episode. They went through and identified most of the 26 species listed as Dal's genetic contributors.

Dal... is part Krenim. [Big Grin] [Big Grin] [Big Grin]

Although that same list also includes the Q... don't ask me how that works.

Maybe it's a species that starts with Q like the Qomar, but not THE Q.

Same way Maquis-DNA works.
