More scary archetectural changes™ in this one.. keep your eye out for oddities please.

Posted by Jeff The Card (Member # 411) on :

Hey, Charles ...

Why, when I logged in, did I get a picture of you and Jubes (naked) singing "Welcome to Flare" to the tune of "Back to the Future"?

Posted by Siegfried (Member # 29) on :

That's what you got? All I got was a picture of sheep.

Oddities like the way you spelled "architectural"? :-)

Oh fuck you. *L*

Young man! Did you just use the F-word, mmkay? Profanity is not acceptable, mmkay? Do I need to sing my hit movie song "It's Easy, Mmkay?"

Oh do shut up. *L*

Posted by Tahna Los (Member # 33) on :

I actually got a background with both Charles and Jubes naked, WITH sheep. *shudder*

In this thread my sig is messing up. It's not there in my first post, but there in my second, and gone again in my third.

Posted by Charles Capps (Member # 9) on :

You probably turned off your sig for that post, you can do so via checkbox below - for instance, I'll turn mine off for this post.

Now, finding who Lobo is and how he made an unreg post will be more interesting. Thanks.

Posted by Charles Capps (Member # 9) on :

Hm, THAT was an odd bug.

Posted by PsyLiam (Member # 73) on :

Lobo is the Main Man (or, at present, the Top Teen). Duh.

Posted by TSN (Member # 31) on :

Seven of Nine wade an unregistered post somewhere, too, as I recall. And made a typo of "Seven of NIne", too.

"Lobo" made that exact same post (really, the exact same one) over at 3DG under the name "Mr.Brown", if that helps.

Posted by Charles Capps (Member # 9) on :

Found the bug. Sneaky thing.

Posted by Da_bang80 (Member # 528) on :

i don't like that purple backround. how bout something 3d, and funky. there's my two cents.

Posted by Charles Capps (Member # 9) on :

Overwrote the wrong file.. shift + reload, it should go away.

Posted by Da_bang80 (Member # 528) on :

much better. i like blue, better than purple.

TSN: He wade an error? Are you related to Elmer Fudd? (back in da game, woohoo!!)

Posted by Nimrod (Member # 205) on :

Serious question: Can you recieve flare personal messages here even if you log in from another computer? That is, are the messages directed to your login name (from whereever it's typed in) or is it mail address specific?

Posted by Charles Capps (Member # 9) on :

The private messaging is tied to the username, so you can log in anywhere and read the messages.

Posted by Jeff The Card (Member # 411) on :

Did you put Flare on more search engines or something? Because it seems we've gotten more newbies in the past month than we did all of last year ... (course, that could just be me and my imagination...)

Posted by Nimrod (Member # 205) on :

Well that seemed to have gone well. What did you guys do, upgrade the forum? There was no access for a while.

Posted by Siegfried (Member # 29) on :

Yeah, that was odd. I tried assessing the forums at about 2:00am Central Time and got this message:

Posted by TSN (Member # 31) on :

I didn't get that message. A little bit after 2a.m. CDT, I got:

Progress in Action!

The base operations (Network/Server) of this web site are undergoing upgrades at this time.

Please bookmark this site (as we do have something for you here!) and return a bit later to visit us!

We _will_ be back soon!

From that, I gather it was a server thing, not just a Flare thing.

Posted by Charles Capps (Member # 9) on :

Yeah, our host retrofitted the server from 4th gen to 6th gen.. quite a change. There will be a little more downtime in the middle o fthe night over the next few weeks as more upgrades are installed.

Posted by Jeff The Card (Member # 411) on :

Charles,

Did you take our post count out from the bottom of the post? If so, why?

Posted by Hobbes (Member # 138) on :

I think cause a few people whined that it'd some how be a way to discriminate other members. "Haha I got more posts than you do! I'm better member cause I have 1247 and you only have 854!" Or something like that, I never understood the basis of the argument against post count.

Posted by Charles Capps (Member # 9) on :

To see if anyone actually noticed.

Posted by Jeff The Card (Member # 411) on :

I'm so sad.

Posted by PsyLiam (Member # 73) on :

I quite like it. I don't think anyone abused it, and it was a handy way for new people to see who was "esablished".

Although, on that point, howsabout someway of highlighting the mods and admins? You know, putting "Moderator of General Discussion" under their name or something?

Posted by TSN (Member # 31) on :

Under normal circumstances, I think moderators do have a status line of "Moderator". It's just that everyone's changed them...

Posted by Charles Capps (Member # 9) on :

Actually, moderators are no longer listed as moderators outside of their own forum.

"You bloody bastard!"

Posted by PsyLiam (Member # 73) on :

"Actually, moderators are no longer listed as moderators outside of their own forum."

Were they ever listed as moderators outside their own forum?

Where are they listed as moderators anyway? Apart from at the top of their forum table (which is where they've always been?)

Posted by Charles Capps (Member # 9) on :

Do shut up.

Posted by Wes1701E (Member # 212) on :

when can I change my status line?

Posted by Charles Capps (Member # 9) on :

Anytime you'd like.

Posted by MeGotBeer (Member # 411) on :

You fixed that? Excellent ...

Posted by Siegfried (Member # 29) on :

Umm... I still can't change my member status. That really bums me out.

Posted by TSN (Member # 31) on :

I think he means you can have it changed anytime you like. Not that you can change it yourself.

Posted by MeGotBeer (Member # 411) on :

D'oh!

Posted by Siegfried (Member # 29) on :

Oh, then I don't feel so bad about it. But I'm still really bummed about it.

Posted by PsyLiam (Member # 73) on :

That's a silly thing to feel "bummed" about Seigy. You're going to feel a lot worse when you find out that I've burned down your house.

Posted by Siegfried (Member # 29) on :

That's unpossible, Liam. I've already beat you to it.

Posted by MeGotBeer (Member # 411) on :

You burned down your own house ... ? Why ... ?

Posted by Siegfried (Member # 29) on :

It was an accident. I was cooking Pop-Tarts.

Posted by MeGotBeer (Member # 411) on :

Oh. Of course. How silly of me.

Posted by Siegfried (Member # 29) on :

Posted by PsyLiam (Member # 73) on :

But I'm actually the head of Kellog's, so I am still, ultimatly, the one responsible for your house burnage. I rule.

Posted by Siegfried (Member # 29) on :

Curse you, Liam Kellogg! I shall one day escape from your surly bonds of servitude that hold firmly in strict adherence to your worship. Someday, damn all the omnipotent deities of the heavens, I will be FREE!

Posted by MeGotBeer (Member # 411) on :

His last name is Kavanaugh. Not Kellog. The two don't even SOUND alike. Yeeeesh ...

Posted by Siegfried (Member # 29) on :

Jeff, it was a joke. I know what Liam's last name is. But he just said that he is the head of Kellogg. Since his last name starts with a "K," I substituted "Kellogg" in place of "Kavanagh."

But now you've gone and ruined my wonderful stroke of comic brilliance. You punk. You're probably gonna spoil the ending to Citizen Kane for me, too, aren't ya?

Posted by MeGotBeer (Member # 411) on :

It's a sled! A sled!

Posted by Siegfried (Member # 29) on :

Damn it, man! Now you've gone and spoiled a classic for me.

Posted by MeGotBeer (Member # 411) on :

Sorry, Siggy, but -- hey -- go check ICQ and authorize me already, eh? My number is 93264098.

Posted by Siegfried (Member # 29) on :

Why should I authorize you!? Huh!? You ruined my clever joke! You spoiled the ending of a movie I wanted to see! You stole my purple pumpkin eater! I gave you my heart, and you threw that sucker on the ground and STOMPED THAT MOTHER FLAT!

Okay, I've authorized you and added you to my contact list. You should be getting my authorization request shortly.

Posted by PsyLiam (Member # 73) on :

"Sled"? What on earth is a "sled"?

Sledge, thank you.

And Jeff, what's wrong with you. First you think I'm gay, and now you're randomly adding "u's" to my surname. If you're going to stalk me, at least pay attention.

Kane was lamenting the loss of his favorite childhood hammer?

Posted by MeGotBeer (Member # 411) on :

Kane as in "Kung-Fu", "I can help you?" Kane Kane?

Posted by Shik (Member # 343) on :

That was Caine. Kwai Chiang Caine, to be exact.

Posted by MeGotBeer (Member # 411) on :

I think I saw a re-run of that on The Superstation. Interesting TV show, to be sure.
