Thazzright, Klingon birds of prey have steering wheels, or the old ones, at least. In STVI, we see the first officer of the BoP giving a command to the Navigator to plot a course to intercept the Enterprise. The navigator complies and turns something. You don't actually see it, but looking at the movement of his hands, it seems to be a steering wheel.

Unlike the Fed vessels, the navigator/helm is behind the Captain's Chair. Behind and to the right and left of the Captain's chair are two consoles, the one of the left belonging to the First Officer. In the scene where the BoP fires a torpedo, you see the Klingon's RIGHT HAND pressing the fire button. Therefore, it would be reasonable to assume that the console to the right is the Weaps console.

As for the First officer's console, perhaps he would be responsible for ship's systems and the such (Data's ops position).

Ideas/Comments? And does anyone else have any layouts for other Klingon ships?

I noticed the steering wheel myself in that movie, Tahna Los. The first few times I watched I thought I was imagining it. But I'm convinced that it's a steering wheel. As for the first officer being the operation officer, that's as good a guess as any.

Interesting. I'll have to take a look.

But it's a rather futile effort to catagorize BoP bridges, considering every one we've ever seen has had a different layout than every other one.

I remember that wheel.

Posible reason for a 'wheel': It could be a 'throttle,' that is, they could use it to increase/decrease power.

And I suppose you think they use a lever to steer by?

Why not? Move the lever left to turn left, move it right to turn right. Not unlike a joystick...

Klingons always prefer a more "hands-on" approach to things anyway
