The SWDAO page is finally up:

http://frankg.dgne.com/swdao/

Let me know of any changes, corrections, or suggestions.

BTW, I don't know where USS Vanguard is...I sent him an email, but he hasn't replied. He's only posted here once in the past month, too.

Looks good Frank. ::Is happy cause his is on the top:: Will, in time when and if more SWDAO topics come up be added?

Are you going to add a link to it on your main page?

You might want to add the 'Class of the USS Potemkin', since it could either be Ambassador class (as seen on screen in "Second Chances") or Excelsior class (as listed in the Encyclopedia)

Sure, just give me a day or two

Also, found another thing about the page. On the number of Galaxy class starship's built, it lists the USS Enterprise-D as the second Galaxy built according to the TNGTM, but the USS Yamato was actually the second one built, according to the TM

In the alternate timeline of 'Yesterday's Enterprise' Tasha said the Ent-D was the first Galaxy-class built. I'm assuming she meant the first production Galaxy, so really it was the second built. Even so, it was an alternate timeline.

"Starship Headaches in Trek" really does work at first glance, but a deeper examination should reveal a deeper meaning ... ahhhhhh! :-)

Bravo Frank, on a job well done. Everything is organized so well on the page.

What about other topics of discussion that we don't agree on, like the Klingon forehead? There's other stuff in Star Trek that we don't agree on, will there be a page this other stuff?

If you do make a Klingon one, I volunteer to do it.

So far, this page is focusing on Starfleet ships. If you want to do a similar one for other stuff, go ahead.

Well no. Not really. I was just saying there's more than just starships that could be SWDAO topics.

Hey the SWDAO looks good. Sorry Shadow, I've been very busy recently and have only been able to go online very few times. As for the e-mail, I never recieved it but it may have been sent to the wrong address. The correct address should be in my profile.

oh wait, its not.
Uh the e-mail is now [email protected], if you could change it on the site as well, it would be most appreciated.

Long awaited 'Class of USS Potemkin' write-up:

The USS Potemkin NCC-18253 is listed in both Star Trek Encyclopedias as being an Excelsior class starship. Though the Potemkin has never been seen on screen, there is a possible sighting of her in the episode "Second Chances." In the Enterprise-D's observation lounge, LaForge goes to one of the screens in the lounge to show the bridge crew what caused the duplicate Riker to appear. The screen shows the planet's surface, the two transporter beams which caused the mishap, and an Ambassador class starship. Logically, one would assume that this is a representation of the USS Potemkin. But is this really what the Potemkin looks like? Some say the Ambassador class starship model is just a 'placeholder', or a generic design that shows the viewer that it's a Federation starship, not giving out many details. But, this screen could be showing the true USS Potemkin as an Ambassador class vessel. The registry number of NCC-18253 fits into both class's numbering schemes, but there are no other Excelsior class starships with numbers as 18xxx. The same applies for the Ambassador class. So this is a total toss up.

Sounds like the Potemkin is Ambassador-class. On-screen evidence over-rules the Encyclopedias.

Oh, SWDAO is very cool - I've added it to my links page.

Except...the poster formerly known as Trinculo says that the Potemkin is seen in "Ethics" (TNG). Anyone have that episode on tape?

So the Ambassador on the display is nothing but a "generic Starfleet ship". Which was the episode where the Excelsior was actually shown?

Posted by Bernd (Member # 6) on :

"Ehics" - the episode where Worf was injured and wanted to commit ritual suicide. I can't remember another ship in this episode.

Posted by Elim Garak (Member # 14) on :

That's the only other ship in the episode.

How often will the SWDAO be updated? In this recent example, it turns out that the Potemkin has been seen as an Excelsior-class so shouldn't that be mentioned in Matt's article on SWDAO?

The possiblity of there being two USS Potemkins is also unlikely, with the low registry on the Excelsior version, and wether or not Excelsiors are still being built

Well...we really don't know how well the magazine is representing the registry. Again, something printed that small is prone to distortion.
