...there's a apparently a size comparison of the Nemesis ships in the current issue of Star Trek Monthly out over there. Your mission, should you choose to accept it, is to provide.

We really liked the music you gave us, though things have been slipping a bit lately with the whole exported reality TV thing. A pick-me-up would be highly appreciated.

In the US, Star Trek Communicator has the size chart for Nemesis. That and the Riker's original wedding photo with Guinan in black shades and Wesley in the duty uniform outfit. It seems as if Young Mr. Crusher joined Starfleet or got a loan for a dress uniform.

A size chart for Nemesis?! Do tell/show.

Very helpful, Edipis. [Roll Eyes]

Sovereign: 2250' long, 800' wide.
Scimitar: 2920' long, 4430' wide.
Warbird: 1980' long, 2980' wide.

In metric units:

Sovereign: 686m long, 244m wide.
Scimitar: 890m long, 1350m wide.
Warbird: 604m long, 908m wide.

Plus, the Ent-E has been slightly remodelled by Eaves in the process of building the Digital Domain model (he wasn't happy with the ILM model).

BTW, I've known this for about a week, and am still the first one to post the sizes over here. How come?

Boris

Posted by MinutiaeMan (Member # 444) on :

Well, nuts! I'd just converted all those figures to metric, and found out that Boris went back and edited them in. Damn you! [Wink]

So what exactly has been changed on the Enterprise?

Posted by Dr. Phlox (Member # 878) on :

I hope they've gotten rid of that horrible flat edge above the deflector. It looks far better when it's nicely curved in FC. [Smile]

Posted by TSN (Member # 31) on :

"Warbird: 604m long..."

Well, that's a little disappointing...

Posted by The_Tom (Member # 38) on :

I assume they're referring to the new one.

its not the length of the warbird, its how you use the disruptor.

just remember: protection counts.. put on a cloak.

Too late for Britannia.

Blimey, it's from th' Communicat'r! Cor!

I don't know about the new Warbird... I kinda miss the big, long, heavy looking Warbird from TNG. The old one makes you cringe at the sheer dimentions of it.

Posted by TheF0rce (Member # 533) on :

The warbird is too wide from the top and too flat from the side. It probably should be even smaller.

Anyway, whats with Eave's designs all looking sort of "breenish"?*gawks at what Scorpion shuttle/fighter could have been*

If anyone didn't get the breenish reference, allot of concept art for the breen, and some sona and dominion looked like that shape.
Even games like Armada capitalized on that design and made it a full fledged breen destroyer.

Let's get rid of Eaves!! PoW3r +O ^h3 f@Nz!!!

I was just looking at some of those pics - what is with the NEBULAE everywhere all the time!?! This ISN'T Babylon 5.

Insurrection had that great bloody dirty Briar Patch in every background shot - and now cause everything to do with Romulans is GREEN - we've got mossy green webs of gas and dust in the background!

Bah!

Am I the only one here who likes Eaves' work? I'm starting to get that impression unfortunately.

Thank you Boris and The_Tom for the info and scan. It's much appreciated.

I'm surprised that the Valdore is that small but it does make better sense given its shape. As Bernd once suggested (joked?), it turns out that the Valdore design would be a good substitute for the massive BoP in "Defector" after all. Not that I like the idea.

First shuttle ever with wings?

Posted by Topher (Member # 71) on :

Wings that come out of it, no less. The Enterprise pod wings fold down.

Posted by Sol System (Member # 30) on :

That hardly seems like a large enough distinction, but I bow to your observational skills in this matter.

The Star Trek Monthly scans have been posted in this thread at the TrekBBS.

Aren't there supposed to be refit D'deridexes in this film too? Where are the photos, I demand!

Posted by TSN (Member # 31) on :

"The Enterprise pod wings fold down."

Didn't they retract into the pod in last week's episode? I remember particularly noticing that and wondering why I hadn't seen it before.

Posted by AndrewR (Member # 44) on :

You could say the Delta Flyer had wings that moved.

Posted by AndrewR (Member # 44) on :

Actually, why the hell does a late 24th century shuttle NEED wings!?! *rolls eyes*

Posted by EdipisReks (Member # 510) on :

wow. i thought they had quit making the windjammer.

Posted by AndrewR (Member # 44) on :

I gather that's not Earth - look at the sky. If it's Betazed (I wonder if we'll see any signs from it's occupation by the Dominion!?!

Are they Enterprise crew members or Betazoids - they all seem to have 'black eyes'. And is that that Bajoran instrument that that guy is playing?

Posted by The_Tom (Member # 38) on :

No, that's Earth.

Posted by Aban Rune (Member # 226) on :

Looks like a new uniform for Spike to add to his site. I wonder what the grey dress unis signify. I see rank insignia on the collars, so I don't think it's an enlisted dress uniform. Maybe some kind of special services?

Posted by AndrewR (Member # 44) on :

That is definately that Bajoran instrument though.

Why, it's the Entie-E Starlights! Available for weddings, Admiralty receptions and Bajoran funeral dirges!

Those uniforms seem to be unique to them, though... Perhaps a uniform specific to performing people, not unlike what military bands have to wear. One wonders then where these uniforms were during the reception at the beginning of "Insurrection"...

Hey, what about the balding guy at the left of the picture? He looks to be wearing a uniform, but nothing that's familiar...

Mark

Posted by Aban Rune (Member # 226) on :

Two possibilities occur to me:

1) It's not a uniform, but, rather some kind of civvie formal wear.

2) It's a red-collared version of the musician's uniform. The folds may be slightly distorting the collar making it appear to have not as many stripes is the musicians'.

I'm guessing it's the second option.

I really hope they will have the good old warbird too. Otherwise we would have the trouble to explain why they suddenly completely replaced all the big ships in the fleet for something looking like a monster BoP. Oh yes, and regarding the now confirmed size, it would be *perfect* as the real Defector BoP (only that we would have to explain why the Klingons have it too).

SPOILERS(to be on the safe side)

Here's another new picture from the Hollywood Reporter of the Scimitar, you can see the damage to the Enterprise.

That's assuming we see more than just the Valdore itself in Nemesis. I agree with you though. The Valdore-type is striking me as the smaller battlecruiser design that the Romulans always needed to complement, not replace, their kick-ass D'deridex battleship.

I think it'd be easier to pretend there was some major optical distortion going on and they're normal Klingon BoP. If anything, that's actually what happened in the reality of the VFX production.

One wonders if Picard bothered to have all his nice neat irreplaceable shit beamed out of his quarters & into a holding bay somewhere before it was all smunched to shit.

Posted by Mark Nguyen (Member # 469) on :

But we dont' know where his qutarters are on the E-E...

Mark

Posted by AndrewR (Member # 44) on :

I think he sleeps on the Bridge, covered in PADDS. [Smile]

Posted by Dr. Phlox (Member # 878) on :

His quarters are bound to be at the front of the saucer somewhere with big windows facing forward. I just hope Guinan manages to escape with her vintage Saurian brandy before Ten Forward is wrecked. [Smile]

Posted by Dax (Member # 191) on :

I agree with Phlox. I would guess that the Captain's quarters would be located at 8-fwd.

Posted by AndrewR (Member # 44) on :

I have a theory - I don't think Picard used those quarters on the E-D. (yes yes expenses but...) The windows didn't match. I reckon he took other quarters that looked more like Troi's/Riker's/Crusher's.

This is interesting. The Valdore card in the Nemesis Star Trek CCG set by Decipher gives the class name as Norexam. They usually have to get all that type of thing passed by Paramount, so it could be the official name. I've asked on their message board where the name comes from.

Posted by Dr. Phlox (Member # 878) on :

Oh well, I got my answer. Doesn't look like it'll get an official class name.

Paramount could provide no canonical name for the class. So yours truly got to dream it up. (nt) ... Evan Lorentz
