with most Exec's masturbating to thoughts of CGI their own penis (you think the Pr0n industry doesnt use CGI now?) instead of the real casting of their model penis, is model building in the movie industry a dying breed? (look how fast Paramount dropped thier filming minutures during the actions they held)

o.O

Model making is not as widespread as used to be, but it's around. I recall a few years ago a naval themed movie that used both real ships and replica models, and the model maker saying how he's glad that in this era of CGI, there's still room for physical special effects. I can't recall the movie though, I think it might have been Master and Commander, but I can't be sure.

I just heard about this site via Starship Modeler: Douglas Trumbull's website ( http://douglastrumbull.com/ ). It's got lots of pictures from 2001, Blade Runner, ST:TMP, Silent Running, etc.

Interesting. And I think the V'Ger model would have looked much more interesting with the inclusion of a pretty lady. They shouldn't have changed that detail. [Big Grin]

Well, it would have made Kirk more of a fan anyway.
