What do you think it is, I can't think of anything. Looks cool though.

A Centaur with two additional nacelles... butt-ugly design in my opinion.

Posted by Aban Rune (Member # 226) on :

Looks very similar to the Medusa design from the Tech manual. Though, the design of that actually grew on me slightly after seeing the pics of the model.

Lol CaptainMike...

Put it this way I don't overly condone quick and nasty kitbashes, but I've seen much worse efforts than this. It's no worse than the Medusa, and hence has a plausibility about it.

Never heard of a vork before, let alone a new vork. And that's a nice slash at Mike Swantak's beautiful Enterprise-B drawing...

Now Old New Vork / Vas Vonce New Amstersdam...

Because that's what the original was called. Part of a big chart made up of ugly kitbashes. See it here: www.geocities.com/trekker_66/new-york1.jpg

The second one. Like I said, ugly kitbashes.
Which one should I do next?
EDIT: You have to type in the URL

I knew someone would say that.

Gee, those are ugly! My eyes! [Big Grin]

F.G., although I'm not a big fan of kitbashes, I can appreciate your efforts to minimise us being able to the cut-and-paste sections. I'm sick of seeing kitbashes that look like a five-minute job in Paint. Your ships are definately refreshing.

Geocities quit on me. Here is the new URL:

Still the same.

Just curious, but why did you scale down the legnth of the bottom nacelles?

One more question. For my next kitbash, what era, TOS, Movie, TNG, or future?

FGS

Posted by Bernd (Member # 6) on :

It will look okay if you give the lower nacelle the appropriate scale. But I wonder what use four nacelles should have on a ship with only half the internal volume of the Excelsior.

Thanks Bernd, here is the corrected version:

Actually, now that I look at it, this ship isn't the same as the one in the fleet chart you posted. It looks something like this:

Well, it can't hardly decipher it. But I am working on a revision. Expect it soon.

New York Class Revised

I did this in 5 minutes so if it looks awful there's an explanation.

Return of the loathed 404!

Posted by Quark_Is_Good (Member # 818) on :

All right. This should work. On the side, not only the name but something else in the text at the bottom of the pic is an in joke.

Posted by Niytaan (Member # 820) on :

It's looking good. You're doing a nice job of blending the hulls.

Comments? Suggestions? Flames?

Well your copying and flipping has screwed up the shuttlebay for sure, now there are two, and one of them is upside down.
And you cut it so thin that they are just two thin tails now, practically useless. If you would bind them together you would get an extra five levels? or so between them.

Also, I'd work on making the bottom part of the ship differently detailed and distinctive, so that the symmetrical copying isn't too obvious.

Posted by Quark_Is_Good (Member # 818) on :

I was thinking of modifying the bottom to incorperate at deflector and a mini eningeering hull. How would I go about doing that?

Quark

Posted by Niytaan (Member # 820) on :

Well I you could make a deflector like the Akira and kinda place it in a recessed spot on the lower edge of the saucer, altough you wouldn't be able to see it from the side.

BTW, what's wrong with parking the shuttles on the roof? [Big Grin]

Well, I was thinking of moving the lower naccels back and put a smaller Excelsior engineering hull there. I'll have to work on it.

Quark

PS Niytaan: I sent you a private message.

Change in plans.

You know those high quality side views of ships at EAS? Do you happen to know where one of the Excelsior study model 2 (The one that already kinda looks like an Excelsior)? [Confused] Any help appreicated.

Bernd has b&w specs of that ship in his size comparison chart, but i think the colored version exists only for his thumbnail, since it is the work of another artist. youd have to receive permission from the originator to use the specs.

..unless i redraw some first.. hmm

Not that bitmaps aren't good, but on some people's machines, it takes a while to d/l. Perhaps you should consider saving or converting your pics to jpegs instead.

Do you mean to have a hollow wedge running through the aft section (that thin, white triangle at the midline)? If not, you might want to fill it in wirth that blue color.

Posted by The Defiant (Member # 818) on :

It was supposed to be a delector housing. It needs to be redone. (Captain Mike? Huh? Huh?) But it looks a lot better than where I started, I tell yah what. Wow. A Centaur with two nacells. How did I think that was going to work anyway??? Beyond me.
