I was goofing around with a pencil technique last night and came up with this handsome devil.

Chief Petty Officer Prell.

And before Lee points out the fact that this doesn't look anything like the Steamrunner Class... this was a 20 minute sketch whilst waiting for paint to dry on another project... [Smile]

That doesn't look anything like a Steamrunner-Class starship ...

... it is, however, pretty cool [Smile]

Um. But he's not Andorian, either, so I don't know what crack you were smokin' when you named that [Smile]

Posted by Krenim (Member # 22) on :

Yeah, that most certainly is not an Andorian. Looks like a Bolian to me...

Posted by The Defiant (Member # 818) on :

More like a Bolian with saggy skin. Maybe wieght loss treatment side effect?

Posted by Aban Rune (Member # 226) on :

DOH! Bolian...Andorian... all the -ians start to muddle together. Hey...it was after midnight and the fumes were getting to me.

Yes...he is a Bolian, not an Andorian. Sorry.

Posted by Grokca (Member # 722) on :

Sure he's not a surgically altered Andorian spy sent to infiltrate the bolian government?

Posted by AndrewR (Member # 44) on :

Aban, I love it!!

I love how you've made him a petty officer etc.

You could create a whole crew - comic-book style... if it didn't take too long!

Maybe we could flesh-out the characters here - and you could draw them - just singular pics would do - like that Bolian fellow.

In an ideal world, by the time Alan finishes that Steamrunner, I'll be able to afford to buy it. 8)

Posted by Aban Rune (Member # 226) on :

Thanks Andrew. And that is a really good idea. In fact, I had done a set of crew members for someone over at TrekBBS (I was feeling generous and since they were only pencil drawings, I could do them at work...)

Here's four of them:

If the Vulcan looks suspiciously familiar...it's because it's me with a funky haircut. The ears are real though.

I sent these to him, but never heard back... I'm not all that surprised, but whatever.

You know, Aban, you're the only person I know of that's drawn 29th Century uniforms, and you're really good at it too. Remind me if I ever save up enough money to hire you to do a "Series ?" cast portrait. [Big Grin]

Great drawing of the Bolian there, it almost looks like a Shapeshifter too, perhaps one of the Founders trying to be a Bolian... Cool

Cardassian and Bajoran Starfleet officers serving together? That might cause some friction...

And that Bajoran chick looks pretty cute. [Big Grin]

Posted by Aban Rune (Member # 226) on :

Well, it's 29th century Starfleet...and it's not my story idea [Smile]

I did the Bajoran chick using Jessica Alba as a reference. I figured...if I'm going to do a female officer...I may as well have fun with it.

Posted by Topher (Member # 71) on :

No wonder she's cute. [Big Grin]

Posted by AndrewR (Member # 44) on :

Aban, nice! That Cardassian looks fantastic!

So you can do some characters we choose?? And we could do back-stories to them etc.

We could mush-out what characters we wanna see? (Personally I'd like to see one or two obscure aliens - like from The Voyage Home etc. cause your pictures give them a personality, instead of just sitting there in the chambers!

Andrew

I feel so untalented now...

Posted by Aban Rune (Member # 226) on :

Well, we could try doing some characters...the only thing is time. I have none of it [Smile]

I also don't have a woman...which is another reason I was using Jessica Alba as a reference...

I just got done looking at a bunch of web design and illustration sites (I do that sometimes)...so now I feel immensely untalented as well...

359...let's go get drunk...

1st 29th Century Guy: How long til I get out of this reception?

2nd 29 century Guy: (I don't know yet)

Cardassian: I can't belive he took my parking space!

Bajoran: Like she's on a bad date.

Posted by Snay (Member # 411) on :

A bad date with you no doubt!

"Oh, geez, another 31-year old North Carolinian Methodist Christian. No sex for me. Boo."

Posted by The Breached Warp Core (Member # 818) on :

What is wrong with you?

PS; Not me, some guy who owns a TV, which I dont.

Posted by Snay (Member # 411) on :

Nothing is wrong with me, except you.

What the hell are you talking about in your "PS"?

Posted by The Breached Warp Core (Member # 818) on :

Not me.

Yes, I figured that you silly boy. I didn't ask "who", I asked "WHAT?" As in, what the hell do you mean with your PS? Is it really hard for you to answer a simple question?

[Eek!] [Roll Eyes]

Oh, I misunderstood.

That.

I'm still not even sure what the first post meant? Is that supposed to be what the characters are saying?

the word is " constructive " criticism...

Posted by The BWC (Member # 818) on :

THinking, What they look like, that stuff.

Posted by Harry (Member # 265) on :

Good work. What's that top right uniform?

Posted by Aban Rune (Member # 226) on :

The top right character was supposed to be a Vulcan officer who wasn't a member of Starfleet. Keep in mind, these are someone else's characters, I just did the pics, so I don't know too much about it. He didn't have a uniform made up, so I made one up that didn't have a wrap around feature so as to distinguish it from the wrap-aroundishness of the SF unis.

Are you coming on to me? [Confused]

Posted by Aban Rune (Member # 226) on :

That would be a negative. I meant more in a commiserating sense.

I'm sure you're a very nice guy and everything...

[Smile]

The359 and Aban, sitting in a tree, first comes drawing, then comes inking, then comes a baby in a baby carriage ...

*squirms uncomfortably*

Yah...um, let's not continue this particular line of conversation.

Random pic reaffirming my masculinity:

Posted by Snay (Member # 411) on :

Have you posted that before? It looks familiar.

And it doesn't reafirm your masculinity.

Why not, you ask?

Because you're not looking down her shirt. Duh.

[Big Grin]

Posted by Aban Rune (Member # 226) on :

I was before the picture was taken though [Smile]

Yes...I've posted it before...or rather, I've linked to it before.

Posted by Snay (Member # 411) on :

Cap'n Mike, we be needin' your photoshop abilities to make an embarassing picture of Aban and Ze359, please ...

Posted by Shik (Member # 343) on :

She's yummy. And familiar. But I can't place a name. Who is?

Posted by Aban Rune (Member # 226) on :

Shannon Baksa, aka Mara Jade in the Decipher Star Wars card game. I did a pic for her to sign.

Oh, yah...and this picture is sacred material... I wouldn't mess with it [Smile]

Hmm. that's pretty keen portraiting.

Any chance you might be able to draw up a 'group portrait' for me, if I give you the actors/characters? I've been trying to create visual references for the characters in the Trek RPG game I run.

Posted by Vogon Poet (Member # 393) on :

Great Scott! Alan actually looks quite normal (for someone who comes here) and might even be considered good-looking. I think he needs to get out more, chase girls and that sort of thing.

After he finishes the Steamrunner, that is. 8)

First: I'd love to do some stuff like that. Sadly, I'm simply out of time right now. I've got so much freelance stuff I have to get to after hours, I can't take on too much fun stuff. You find me 5 extra hours a day, and I'll work on the crew portraits [Smile]
