Masao even posted a few of his alternate concepts in the comments section. I still think it's very cool that one of "us" can get this kind of recognition!

Masao Okazaki was also enthusiastically supportive.
I picture him doing cartwheels.
And backflips.
And laughing like Invader Zim.

I am not a gymnast.

Hey, I never said you were any good at it.
And I notice you dont deny the laugh part. [Wink]

It's a huge accolade to you -and your work merits every bit of it- congrats!

I don't know who Invader Zim is, but he sounds evil. I do have an evil laugh. So I can't deny laughing like Invader Zim.

How can you not know Invader Zim?
He's my role model and personal inspiration.

Youtube him, my friend and know enlightenment in all things.

My role model is Gir...and Masao of course. And that bucket of fish over there!

Oddly, my image of Masao is a bishie villain just got more solidified. If he has long white flowing hair, we're all pretty much screwed.

(And it's MY station, dammit, it has my name on it!)

Don't worry. I have gleaming chrome skull.

Very cool, and congrats, Masao. But where do the four Connies dock if the whole 'cap' is the terrestrial enclosure?

Also, not to put the focus on someone else, but Drexler's comment talking about the 'repair cars' he had envisioned for the NX was pretty freakin' cool.

That was never the plan. The terrestrial enclosure is only the top half of the mushroom cap. The original plan was for the space dock to take up the entire interior of the cap.

Masao, what programs do you use in your designs?

Posted by Masao (Member # 232) on :

For the last 15 years or so I've used Freehand, but because of the recent death of my laptop running an old version of the Mac OS, I've been forced to switch to Adobe Illustrator.

Good luck with that mate. I had to use it for a job a little while back, nearly threw the monitor out the window it was so frustratingly fiddly.

You get the cool beauty shots/scenes from Illustrator?

Any half decent vector program can do it, it's just a matter of knowing how to use the tools. It I can give a couple of examples; this is done entierly with vectored shapes with absolutely no rasta enhancement or fiddling (except the drop shadow) as is this.
