An issue for me about the new Star Wars film is the distinguishing of the bodyguard from the Queen. I couldn't-they spoke the same, they looked the same, they even acted the same. My question-is the bodyguard a clone of the Queen?

Maybe they're sisters, making the "queen" a princess.

Which reminds me...if Owen and Beru from ANH really were Luke's relatives, then maybe the non-queen/bodyguard is Beru?

Didn't the Queen have a slightly deeper voice than what Portman's actually is?

The reason behind that, from what I hear, is interesting. Portman's voice changed notably between now and the time filming begin. Many of the Queen's lines were redone, to make her sound older.

OK, I haven't seen it yet, but I noticed that on some TV things Amidala's voice sounds different to the Ads and preveiws downloaded off the net - I love her voice - If the've changed it - I'll be upset.

What I mean is, Portman went back to redub some of her lines so that the Amidala wouldn't seem to age mysteriously halfway through the movie.

Or so I heard.

Yes, I heard that at the IMDb as well.

$$ itty-bitty plot spoilers if you interpret wel enough $$

However, it seemed to me that the Queen's voice was deeper from Portman's and thus the other character's.

I just assumed that (now after seeing it last night at the premier in Australia !) that the change in pitch was to 1. Distinguish between Amidala and Padme and also 2. To show that Amidala/Padme had a 'authority voice' and 'her real voice'??

Owen was really Obi-Wan's brother, at least according to the novelization.
