well i suppose it was all that gloating Palpatin did that made George think... should i fuck with this?

Well I don't understand...ruins the spontaneity of the scene...it's my fault...I brought the Special Edition DVDs...I supported Lucas' bad habit...I'm sorry.

I think by this point Lucas is doing it on purpose just to see how far he can push the fanboys. Just watch, next time around he'll add in the force ghost of Jar Jar Binks at the end. Assuming this is real of course.

In 2020, he'll re-re-release everything with updated F/X of how he really, REALLY meant for the movies to look for only $199 for the set, including a pewter figure of Boba Fett.

Meh. The only reason I bought the limited edition of the original trilogy on DVD was because it included the original theatrical releases. I did not buy the original DVD release. And I will not buy the Blu-ray set. (I don't own a Blu-ray player either, but that's beside the point.)

At this point, I think Lucas is probably planning for a 2015 release of the fully-restored, high-def, un-edited theatrical cuts for some ridiculous price. Just to piss off everyone.

I almost pity the man. He just keeps revisiting the same work over and over, constantly tinkering, never satisfied with what he's made. Aside from the prequels and the Clone Wars, has he made a single new work in the last twenty years?

In the new version, Alreann fires first, Greedo shoots himself, and Jeremy Brett gets his Boba Fett lines back- more out of abject pity for the man than anything else.
Guy lives on the convention circut.

As long as Lucas is pussifying Harrison Ford's characters, he might as well cut the scene in Raiders where Indy just shoots that sword wielding arab guy.

Cant be any worse than what Speilberg did to ET (not that that movie was ever anything but excrement in the first place).

George Lucas apparently does not follow his own advice. It's worth reading the whole argument.

"People who alter or destroy works of art and our cultural heritage for profit or as an exercise of power are barbarians."

Well said, George!

Lucas has a history of radically changing his mind, of course (9m40s, also: watch the entire review if you somehow missed it)

It's almost as if at some point the real George Lucas was replaced by his evil mirror universe twin and we've been stuck with this guy ever since...

Let's not forget the 3D versions. They're getting theatrical releases iirc, but will presumably come to DVD/blue ray too.

So it's out...anyone seen it yet?

If Krayt-dragon and Palpydeath are the only alterations, no enhanced asteroid fields or ship backdrops or whatever, I don't think I'll check them out.
Anyone know if there's a longer list of additions/enhancements?
