Wow, cool new ship and totally unexpected in this episode! Look at trekmovie.com for a picture. It has a spherical primary hull reminiscent of Hope/Olympic-class TNG-ship, weird-looking secondary hull with odd blueglowing section (cant be engines?) and 7 possibly 8 "tailpipes". Finallly, standard-looking nacelles indicating starfleet type ship. It looks small, so a transport? (it was called a medusan ship by someone at trekbbs, but apparently this was not mentioned in the actual episode)
BTW, is noone capping these new episodes for starshippics? I know trekcore does and does a bangup job as well, but noone here on this board?

Errr . . . where the hell did the Medusan planet go? That *was* where they were supposed to be going, instead of to a rendezvous with a ship.

I believe that was the original problem with the episode. The Enterprise clearly heads for a planet, but Kirk says something to the effect of "We've rendezvoused with the Medusan vessel." So unless the Medusans use entire planets as starships, this was an error.

Well, the transfer could well be with a ship instead of a planetful of beings that just looking at will kill you.
Btw, I noticed there is a lively debate on this topic in the general trek forum here on Solar Flare on page 10 on the Topic: New station for "The Ultimate Computer". Wow, I cant believe I missed that ;-)

The tailpipes remind me of slightly clumsy version of this style of spaceship.

That ship looks more like the Mon Calamari ships from Star Wars Episode VI: The Return of the Jedi.

To be sure, our Starfleet heroes could be transporting the Medusan only part of the way. Perhaps the Medusans want to keep the exact location of their homeworld secret from the rest of the galaxy?
Then again, the real destination might be the Medusan planet, as originally shown, and Miranda Jones was speaking of an entirely different sort of "vessel" where she and Kollos would "join" - something more akin to a ceremonial urn or a jacuzzi tub.
..What bothered me more was that they never say which planet they are transporting Kollos from!
The Medusan vessel certainly looks pretty in the Trekmovie caps. How big is she? The window rows would suggest she's level with the Enterprise and behind her, and thus perhaps half her length. But is she in front of and below Kirk's ship instead, and much smaller?
The nacelles are so conventional (they even seem to have the red cheat lines and the yellow banana thing) that this ship probably is in Starfleet registry and of generic Federation manufacture, even if with some native Medusan tweaks to the sensors and whatnot. A nice design for a courier or sigint vessel.

Huh? It certainly doesn't look like she's further away from the camera than the E to me... quote: But is she in front of and below Kirk's ship instead, and much smaller?
Yes, I think.

This is all being discussed on the other thread, including windows, size, Medusan/Federation tech, etc
