I moved back into the dorms on Saturday. Loads of fun, that moving stuff is. It didn't rain and my help ended up not bailing out on me. However, the temperature reached 99 degrees (factoring in the humidity, it felt like 107 degrees). No cloud cover, either. And I decided to move in at noon. Not the smartest move I ever made. I overheated pretty bad and fainted. This is not a mistake I will be making ever again.

Anyway, I'm still unpacking and settling in. Housekeeping did not clean my room or the bathroom, so I'm stuck doing that. There are two dead tree roaches in my bathroom. Yuck. I have one of my bookshelves set up and loaded. The other one has a bunch of boxes and their previous contents spread upon it. I got my "kitchen" set up and stocked as well. And by "kitchen" I mean my dorm fridge, microwave, toaster, and George Foreman grill. I've gone grocery shopping and been cooking my meals. So far, I haven't set off the fire alarm.

I've visited my friends that are still working for the residential life department. They miss me horribly, and I miss them horribly. The b**** that ousted me from my job is getting a lot of flak for screwing up the retreat and training. The replacement for me she hired isn't having a whole lot of fun either. All in all, my friends are doing fine; they're just really really stressed out with the dorms opening for Fall and all that. It's good to see them again.

I went out to eat with a couple friends last night. We made our tradition trip to Chuy's for Tex-Mex and then went to a friend's house for a movie and booze. Couldn't convince them that a proper movie for boozing was a porno and not "O Brother, Where Art Thou?" Oh well. One of the friends that went with me is leaving for Chicago to attend Law School. This was a good going away party of sorts. Of course, I've been fighting a dull headache most of the afternoon. Don't know if it's related to the drinking or not, yet.

Finally got my network cord yesterday and (after four hours of playing with it) got my T1 connection back. Of course, know I'm having email problems. My university account won't let me log in and my WorldNet account isn't set for general internet access. Eh, it isn't that big a deal yet. Classes begin tomorrow morning, and it's going to be a challenging semester. I'm taking my upper level business core classes.

Since I have no job right now, I'm on the job hunt. I have a few interviews in the coming days with the first on Friday morning. That jobs for working tech support at a company near my school. The pay's good, and the hours won't conflict with my classes. The downside is that it's customer service and, well, sometimes people just tick me off. I should know, I worked in the dorms for two years.

Anyway, that's Siegfried's life in a nutshell. How's everyone else doing so far?

Well, I'm doing all right. School starts in two weeks. I have a job interview tomorrow at 2 for Subway. I know, it's a "fast food" place, but hey, a job is a job, and I need the money to put into my truck and pay for gas and insurance. Thus is life.

Well, this fast food place you're applying at is in the upper echelon of fast food that I consider to be the prime of food choices. I prefer your fast food place over McDonald's, Burger King, Wendy's, Sonic, Whataburger, Taco Bell, Taco Cabana, Kentucky Fried Chicken, Popeyes, and other greasy "Guess What I Put In The Secret Sauce" type places.

How am I doing? Absolutely fine. Work is going well (IT Support)house is still standing, health is good and rehersals for a new play are about to start. However, the sunny glow around my little life is being overshadowed by an unwanted cloud. Its the time of year when I start feeling my age. Half the people I know go back to school/college and the other half of my friends seem to be getting married. I swear after this summer I will have more wedding outfits than work ones! I finished Uni 5 years ago and it still feels strange not having a long summer vacation.

The Brits out there may have heard of friendsreunited.co.uk. Both me and my girlfriend have been contacted by ex boyfriends and are trying terribly hard not to be childish and jealous of each other.

Does anyone have a cure for feeling ones age?

Hate my job. Hate what the job is doing to my sleep patterns. Still hurting everyday with new information over the ex-girlfriend.

Love my sister. Love my new roommates. Hate my new roommates' apparent lack of cleaning skillz.

Mad furious emotionally-cleansing cleaning jag is scheduled for this weekend. I clean with primal lethality.

I just graduated and my sister got married this weekend which was fun. Despite this, it's the first time in 18 years that I'm faced with not going back to school or especially university in September - and I hate it.

I've got a job on a six month contract which I'm way too good for but have to do to clear my debts.

I'm going to Germany in two weekends time to watch the Germany v England game in Munich which we will win! COME ON ENGLAND!

Well, I'm about halfway through moving in with my girlfriend, although I effectively live there already, I just have a lot of stuff still to move(books and videos on Monday, doing kitchenware tonight). Really must remember to use some of my own pillows, then I'll find it easier to sleep in a new place; once I get used to the kitten's fondness for leaping up on the bed at about 6 am and purring very loudly until we feed her, that is. . .

Last week was a bit stressful as Kate's lodger, who'd already been given notice to leave, became so unpleasant about it that Kate told her to be out by the weekend, whereupon her boyfriend started getting extremely violent and threatening, so the police were called, etc., etc. . . But it's all done now. We dumped all her stuff on the pavement (sidewalk) and told her to come get it. Very satisfying. We went out for Tapas in the evening to celebrate.

Work really sucks. I'm past getting frustrated with it, it just bores me now. I'm waiting to see what my pay rise is next month, and seeing what the many recruitment companies I'm registered with might turn up. Considering a change of career, I'm sick of helping morons who can't use computers.

I guess that covers it. New computer soon, maybe whole new email as current one is target for spam and viri. Off to Venice in October for a few days. Skiing in February, Mexico in May/June.

I'm still working at the same job I've worked at for five years now, despite lunatics, brats, and people who never return books.

I'm still dating the same girl I've been dating for almost four years now, despite everything from seizures to emergency spinal surgery to emotional breakdowns.

I've just decided to turn down a somewhat better-paying job I've been offered at another lkibrary, because it involves exponentially more responsibility, stress, and a hostile work environment.

I'm preparing to move into a new, extra-cheap apartment ($250 plus utilities), if I can find the time to fix it up a little.

I'm still working on an unofficial 'SliderTrek' game adventure scenario for the next Trek RPG, which may actually be printable in a year.

I've managed to avoid drinking any alcohol for almost four years, although the cravings are still there. I've also managed to avoid giving a small number of people I've met through work the severe beatings that they so richly deserve.

To compensate for that, it's about midnight here, I'm listening to the "Somewhere over the rainbow/What a wonderful world" medley by Israel Kamakawiwo'ole, from the end credits of "Meet Joe Black".
And Pachelbel's Canon too, I'm getting mighty mushy. *sniff* Life's wonderful...

Oh, are we talking emotional albums now? Jeff Buckley's debut, "Grace." WOW.

I'm glad that most of y'all are doing pretty well. For those just getting back to school or are preparing to in the next couple weeks: good luck and may your class be a bit more invigorating than my first one: intro to operations management. Tomorrow I've got the Modern History of Mexico, Business/Professional Communications, and Business Statistical Analysis. So far, none of my classes have been moved around the continuing repair efforts from Allison.

My room is slowly moving closer to being setup. I've got most of my pictures, trinkets, and Star Trek stuff up on the shelves and walls. I have my junior high band and high school marching band pictures to buy frames for yet. I'm discovering that cooking is hard to do without an actual kitchen or the necessary items like a cutting board and can opener. I'm making do without them for the moment, though. The Texas Tree Roaches are still invading my room. Two of the bastards invaded my room. They paid the ultimate price: dying from the laughter of watching me jump on my bed and scream like a school girl.

MaGiC: There is no cure for feeling one's age. I'm already beginning to feel like I'm ancient, and I shouldn't be reflecting on my high school years with regret for another 13 years or so.

Shik: I'm still sorry about your girlfriend. Things will get better. Sorry about your job, too. I had a job that gave me insomnia. It really sucks. But it's good that you're doing good with your new roommates. I'm going a cleaning binge Friday because my bathroom is really grodey now.

Orion: Have fun on the vacation and congrats on graduating!

Vogon: Sorry about your girlfriend's ex-roommate issues. But isn't it fun to call the police for disputes? I got to do that a lot working in the dorms.

Da_bang, MeGotBeer, and PubDisNamed: HA HA HA! Y'all got to go to school soon! HA HA HA! Oh, wait, I'm already in school. Damn it!

First: Congrats on the alcohol. I'm slowly beginning to experiment with it, but I'm watching my consumption like a hawk since alcoholism runs in my dad's family. Sorry about your job and Julie. But remember: Julie's worth it!

Nimrod: Interesting choice in music. I've been listening to a lot of Aaron Copland's works recently (mainly because I unpacked my CD). I've also been listening to a melancholy mix of music on my computer.

IKEA discontinued a line of bookshelves I loved -- Skanare. I picked up the last four extension units IKEA White Marsh had today, and used them to create a new bookshelf coming out from my wall, creating a corridor to my bathroom, and against my previous SKANARE shelf ... sadly, I need two more extension units to get them to the height I want, but I don't think I'll be able to find them ...

Anyway, that saddens me. Oh well. I just watched "Hannibal", got my ass kicked at "Counter-Strike" (although I'm getting better and better each time I play), and my date for tonight had to cancel because her roomate's boyfriend fucked another girl and she's gotta comfort her roomate.

Joy is me.

Oh, yes, and I sent in my registration form to MVA, changing from Howard County to Baltimore County, and also changing my party affiliation to the Green Party.

Again, joy is me ...

On the other hand, Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back came out ... today? Hopefully I'll get out to see it soon. I'm very much looking forward to the new school semester. My classes are (and I haven't printed out my official schedule yet -- well, I did, but I lost it -- so bear with me, my schedule (to my best memory) is:

Folklore
Introduction to Theatre
Writing Fiction
Brit Lit to 18th Cent
