Speak the hell up!
Seriously, we get many new members all the time but so few of you participate in discussion.
Are you shy? It's okay. Really.
I know, conversing with such luminaries as We is a leap, but much as an aspiring writer must someday dig up the corpse of Hemmingway or Poe, you too must converse with Us, of the Flare.

True, we may sound like egotistical, crass jackasses but, honestly, that's just Shik...and Vanguard... and me...
Okay, pretty much the entire memberlist.

Participate now and know the joys and pitfalls of such multi-page threads as: "I hate the GOP" or "Length of the Defiant".
Call now, operators are standing by to take your contribution.

Unfortunately, it seems as if most new members who do speak up these days are here for spamming purposes.

They're afraid because Snay looks like Amish Charlie Brown.
We'd have more members if we stopped posting pictures of ourselves. Also if we had a banner ad at some porno sites.
Sci-Fi fans like porn, right? I'm just sayin'.

We're at 490, according to the counter on the index page.

A lot of members who aren't spammers seem to vanish after a few posts. And, Jason, there's me...I'm not too egotistical. [Wink]

Is it just me, or has posting slowed down here in general? Shikaru and Daniel are off in the military, which explains a bit of the silence, but it seems like there are fewer new threads posted now adays.

The general lack of new Sci-Fi just now is a real problem.
Really, there's almost no sci-fi on TV aside from Terminator (which I dont watch, frankly).

Not much on the movie horizon past A-Trek, more Terminator and Wolverine.

Which leaves hard-core tech/ship junkies as our most likely newbies, i guess.

I'm hoping the new Stargate thing will be a huge hit but I kinda doubt it and skiffy is moving further away from new good stuff and closer to calling wresteling sci-fi.

There's more TOS actors dying as of late then there are new things to discuss.

Maybe we should start a bet pool.

Not that think it will cause a huge explosion in chatter, but I think the forum needs a little bit of re-formatting. For starters that 'Enterprise' board for example is long past due for archiving or merging with 'General Trek'. Perhaps a new board in it's place for any "New Trek" that comes with the new J.J. Abrams reboot might be worth considering too.

And then we'll have newbies saying the Enterprise is cool and that the original is so outdated and ugly.

Shik has joined the MILITARY!?! What the hell!?!

I'm gathering they don't care what happened to him in the past?

Daniel is...

I feel bad sometimes - I mean i've been 'chatting' to you guys now for like 12 years and I hardly know what any of you look like or your real names. I suppose we just 'get down to business' here and don't really have a whole heap of 'social' forums that clutter a lot of other forums down.

Maybe we could start a social thread... where we reveal secrets to each other and braid each other's hair? [Wink]

Look we all know the Defiant is 170m*

Nothing wrong with joining the military ... as long as it's the Navy.

Sometimes this place can seem intimidating to new members, especially considering many people here have been on the board since 1999.

I'm not saying there's anything wrong with joining the Military AT ALL! Just - that was quite unexpected! Are you still sailing around Hobbes?

Oh. Hey. Yeah. I didn't join up. Went and had a look-see, talked to some people who'd been in for a few years, decided I didn't like it. I *really* thought I'd mentioned that, honestly. Oops.

It has been slow lately. I haven't felt moved to post anything much, except on the BSG threads. And that's over now.
