Firefox works, too . . . it's WebGL.

I don't see how it would revolutionize Trek cartography, though, any more than Celestia and its similar brethren.

Well, in theory WebGL would make it a bit more accessible for creation. Celestia and the like are handy reference programs, but I don't think you can create your own maps.

With this sort of foundation in the demo, you could make your own map of local space with all sorts of custom names, boundaries for territory, and more.

I've been slowly working on something similar in a 3D video/animation program I've been learning, but it's not quite like this...

Ah, got it. It never occurred to me to try to create a map for Celestia.

Fabrux, better to be behind the times than never have the idea at all!
