Pop science, yes but in-universe this actually would explain so much about Voth mythology & societal bias. https://www.iflscience.com/space/dinosaurs-lived-on-the-other-side-of-the-galaxy-nasa-astrophysicist-demonstrates/

Yes but, most of the other stars in our local group are also moving about the same rate and in roughly the same directions so...?

That’s a fascinating little project!

I’m far from certain, but I think that groups of stars can orbit the galaxy at different speeds, even at the same distance. What we view as the arms of the galaxy are mainly pressure waves exciting dust and encouraging star formation, so the whole thing has a bit less static structure than we imagine.

Exactly. So consider that the Voth left Earth when it was still over there & then, being nomadic, just stayed in the same area as the stars kept moving, leaving them behind. That would mean they truly WERE the first species to evolve in their part of the galaxy, so Voth doctrine wouldn't be the bullshit it sounded like.

You can't just sit in one place and let the galaxy rotate around you any more than you can stand still and let the Earth rotate under you. You'd have to actively accelerate in the opposite direction, which is literally just normal space travel.
