I can think of 5, however, I don't want to put them in an order yet:

Best of Both Worlds
Cause and Effect
Yesterday's Enterprise
All Good Things
Encounter at Farpoint

Actually, I put Encounter at Farpoint in there as a space-filler...

The Inner Light
BoBW
Face of the Enemy
Yesterday's Enterprise
Data's Day
The Offspring
I, Borg
Darmok
All Good Things...
Q Who?

No order - but I just HAD to have 10.

You show those 10 episodes to a non-fan - and you'll get them hooked.

I was hooked when I was given YE, QW?, and BoBW on one video tape. Admittedly I had seen most of the movies (This was 1992) and a smattering of episodes of TNG. So I did have some sort of knowledge of what was going on! ;o)

OK, I've got my 5 ready, in order:

1) BoBW
2) Cause and Effect
3) Yesterday's Enterprise
4) All Good Things
5) Q Who?

Now that I look at it, I find it almost the same as my previous list.
And, although it's not in my top 5, I thought "Starship Mine" was a good episode, contrary to fan belief...

1) Darmok
2) All Good Things
3) The Inner Light
4) First Contact
5) The Measure of a Man

These I think are amongst the best episodes, as much as my favourites.

Jeff: The Arsenal of Freedom? Between this and your film favourites, I'm seriously beginning to wonder if you've had your sense of taste surgically removed.

Yes, you're despicable, and... and picable... and... and you're definitely, definitely despicable. How a person can get so despicable in one lifetime is beyond me. It isn't as though I haven't met a lot of people. Goodness knows it isn't that. It isn't just that... it isn't... it's... it's despicable.

Hey, you're the one who wants to get into my pants.

Yes, I loved the episode. A lot of my like for the episode is that it was my favorite when it first aired (and I was 9 or so). I also really liked 'Heart of Glory.'
