Author Topic: The whole U.S.S. Intrepid----NCC-74600 thing The Mighty Monkey of Mim SUPPOSED TO HAVE ICE POWERS!! Member # 646 posted                       Just what ever was the deal w/this? I've heard numerous people say that Rick Sternbach said it in a newsgroup post, and numerous people say it's a myth. I think I remember it being brought up once here a long time ago, but as I recall it was dismissed without any conclusive discussion. So, it could be just about anything.. However, I do believe that Sternbach did want to round off the Intrepid's NCC at 74600... This was mentioned I think in a Starlog article some time ago. Then someone actually asked him, and he said he had no idea where that number came from. So it's a lie, but an entertaining lie. And in the end, isn't that the real truth? The answer is no. I'll make sure not to count on it next time... BTW, just what is the established maximum length signature one can have??
