The Tholian ship was more like wing-only or hull-only, depending on whether you are a glass-half-full or glass-half-empty kind of a guy. Their voices can tell us a lot about their physiology. Their ships are 200 degrees on the inside, their ships used energy weapons (not webs) they used a tractor beam, just like the Vulcan TB, the ships cordinated their attacks, but didn't act as if under a single mind (so much for the hive-mind theory). The Vulcans knew about them, and the Sulaban arn't afraid of them.
