"A film made in 2008 isn't going to look like a TV series from 1966 if it wants to make any money. As long as the characters act the same way, and the spirit of the story remains the same then it's "real" Star Trek. Everything else is window dressing." -StCoop

Huh, and all this time I'd guessed that Starfleet technology was big-endian.

Nicer than I expected...she's a bit dirty though. I was always under the impression that the nacelle and eng-hull were fatter than they actually are. Probably the angle of the stills I've seen so far though.

Damn my second post didn't go through! Anyways, anyone looked at the ship's senior officers, one of them belongs to a new species. Also they have a image that gives you a glimpse of the shuttlebay's interior.

Oh man that nacelle is awesome. The ship looks so overpowered, I love it. [Big Grin]

Overpowered? Well maybe not. The longer nacelle may denote older technology which requires a substantial amount of power to produce the same output as the New E's relatively shorter bugle nacelles.

Actually, if it's older technology, then (assuming the writers/designers even thought of this) the assumption would likely be that the warp-engine components would be more 'Brute Force' (IE, Cold War Russian) in philosophy. Big, heavy, and functional, but extremly crude in design.

The elongated nacelle s cool for one-nacelled ships- A modeler friend offers a kit of a Ambassador variant decked out that way.

The rear of the secondary hull looks really odd- like it's not all there.

Does the bussard collector glow?

Hmmmm - this doesn't look like the ship in the trailers to me. The bottom 'nacelle' seemed to be as 'thick' as the top part. You can see at one point a large round blue 'exhaust' at the back of it.

*shrug*

Sure these are 'official'?

There's more to it. On the Intel "Boldly Go" Star Trek website they also have pictures and small captions from the 4 Kelvin officers, and some Treknology-101 about the main ship components.

https://boldlygo.intel.com/content/index.html

It's on one of the submenus to the right, after the intro.

(I know Joshua already posted the link but it seemed like none of you went there...)

Yeah, they've reduced the height of the image so it fits in the box better.

It makes a change to have this sort of detail for a ship, but it'd be nice if they showed the Enterprise or that starbase as well.

Some spoiler warnings, please. Sorry to be a stick in the mud, but I had no idea this was ST:XI, and no reasonable way to know before clicking links.
