...where no man has gone before.

I'm excited to see more scans. How many pages and how many images are in the book?

Here's some more information on the STAR TREK MECHANICS book:

Constitution class: about 70 photos, half being frame enlarhements from TOS, the rest photos of Greg Jein's miniature from the DS9 episode; theese miniature photos are new to me.

Constitution Mk II: 16 photos, mostly shots we've all seen before.

Enterprise B: 3 photos, all seen before

Enterprise C: 18 photos, almost all new shots of the "C" mini (with a few Zhukov pics)

Enterpise D: 25 photos; both the 6' and 4' versions, plus some on constructing the 6' model. Mostly new.

Enterprise D (3-engined): 13 photos, mostly new, with some great detail shots of the added details.

Enterprise E: 35 photos, almost all new. Detail shots are sometimes washed out by the camera's flash.

The Phoenix: 3 shots, all the same one from before.

Voyager: 43 shots, almost all new- excellent detail shots (although shot in room light with daylight film, so they are a bit on the yellow side).

Reliant/Saratoga: 35 photos, almost all new. Again, great detail shots of things like weapons pod and the Saratoga's side-mounted cannons/sensors.

Saratoga escape pod: 3 photos, including one of the mold it was cast from.

New Orleans: 1 photo, hanging in someone's office....

Sydney: 1 photo; I think we've seen this before.

Excelsior: 7 photos; 4 are new to me.

Nebula: 10 photos, 9 are new.

Pasteur: 5 photos, a few new ones.

Defiant: 13 photos. Mostly new. Nice detail shots.

Botany Bay: a frame enlargement and 2 photos of a model built by Greg Jein for Sisco's office.

Stargazer: 1 photo of the model seen in Picard's ready room.

There's a decent section on shuttles and the runabout.

Space station k-7: 11 photos; 9 are of the model built for the DS9 episode.

Deep Space Nine: 8 photos, 6 are miniature shots.

Surak shuttle: 5 shots, mostly new

Klingon D7: 11 shots, 8 are new ones of (I believe) the actual miniature.

K'T'inga: 8 shots, all from the ST:TMP paint scheme. We've seen them before, but not presented as nicely.

Romulan BOP: 2 shots, both frame enlargements.

Klingon BOP: 10 shots, mostly new, with a few featuring extended landing gear.

Vorcha: 8 photos, mostly new.

Negh'Var: 7 photos, mostly new.

D'deridex: 7 photos, a few new ones.

Rom Scout/science vessel: 7 photos; scout is in 2 frame enlargements, science vessel is nicely covered in shots of the mini in it's box.

Borg Cube/sphere: 6 photos. same old stuff.

Borg ship: The weird one from "Descent". 8 photos, mostly new.

Galor: 10 photos, mostly new.

D'kora: 3 shots, 2 are new.

Jem'hadar bug: 4 shots, 3 new.

Maquis ship: 4 shots, mostly new.

kazon ships; 3 shots, same old.

All text is in Japanese, with a few names (Like USS Enterprise) in English. About 250 pages.

Most of the photos in the book are of the actual studio miniatures, so CG ships like the FC ones don't appear at all (well, there's one lousy frame enlargement from the battle). Perhaps there will be a second volume. Note that this book is the Star Trek Official guide 4. I have no idea what is in 1-3, though I suspect it to be the usual cast photos and such.

Sol System: use whatever you like.

Alexander DeLarge: When you say model in Captain's Picard ready room-are you referring to the movies or the series? The model in the series was of an unnamed Constellation Class ship with the registry NCC-7100. Reference: "Who Watches the Watchers?", Star Trek: The Next Generation Companion. Next, on the Nebula Class photos, are there photos of ships we haven't seen mentioned either visually or by audio transmission?

I believe that the Constellation photo was from the series. It's painted a yellowish color. The Nebula featured is the Farragut, so new new ships here.

Yes, Sol, believe it or not, I know which store your talking about. I first found it about 3 years ago, and there was a bunch of cool Trek stuff (specifically, I remember seeing some cool spacedock blueprints). The last time I went (6 months ago, maybe?) there was not much in the way of rare Trek stuff, though the had alot of cool Star Wars toys and such.

The store is in the Pike's Place Market right by the water on 1st and Pike or something (the place where they throw the fish), I'll see if I can find the name for you...

Too cool! I am in your debt. Of course, I seem to be in the debt of quite a few people these days.

Yes, Sol. And, if you aren't careful, you'll soon be talking to Tony and Guido and their friend, Mr. Lead Pipe... *LOL*

The drone that the E-D shot down!

this looks like a miranda weapons pod - with other pods attached - this also made a breif appearance as that getaway ship in "Starship Mine"

Initially the model in Picard's ready room was of a Constitution, which thay had at one time planned to the Stargazer to be. . . then they developed the new class, called it Constellation because it was easily dubbed over existing dialogue, and put a version of the model in the ready room.

I keep meaning to swing by that bookshop I mentioned to have a look. . . no time right now though.

Wasn't the yellow model seen in the ready room in an episode prior to "The Battle"

Picard's ready room model has always been the Constellation, but there was one episode (I forget which one), in which they replaced it with a silver Constitution because Greg Jein had the model as a reference for building the big one.
