It's fun to do patches/badges/logos or what you might call them.

An ENT era commercial thing

A news channel for the remote outposts.

A 24th century sector/starbase logo similar to the Bajor Sector logo in the DS9TM.

Semi-interesting fact: I used Lunar Cell to make those planets.. the same plugin Mandel used for the Star Charts. It's a fun plug-in.

Cool logos, Harry!

What program(s) is/are Lunar Cell compatible with?

Very nice work Harry!

What font did you use for that news logo, was it one of the Battlestar Galactica ones?

Nice work on the Starbase logo, is there a particular reason why you chose to use dark blue instead of the traditional red, some form of Beta Quadrant colour coding?

I wouldn't mind getting my hands on that plugin either, where did you get it? Is it compatible with PSP7?

Lunar Cell (and other plugins) are available at http://www.flamingpear.com/. You can download free demos or buy the whole thing. These plugins can be used in Photoshop and Paint Shop Pro. And it's really ridiculously easy to draw planets with this [Smile]

Well spotted on that font.. yes it's from Battlestar Galactica. It's "Battlestar".

The reason for dark blue instead of bright red? It looked better [Big Grin] But I think you can rationalize it with either Starbase 53 being something special or with the sector being in the BQ, like you suggested.

Sarvek: The planets were made in Photoshop with the Lunar Cell plugin, the rest is in CorelDRAW 10.

Nice work, Harry. I like the starbase logo best; the blue is good.

One suggestion, though. The blue triangle is too thick in the corners. It looks as if you increased its size (from the inner triangle) by a percentage rather than making it larger than the inner triangle by a specific number of centimeters all around (such as with an 'inset' tool).

The problem is, that sort of tool doesn't exist in CorelDRAW (or at least not that I know of... Lobo?). You have to resize it, and then push and pull it into something that looks right. Plus the fact that rounded triangles are no standard shape, makes these logos slightly more difficult than the others.

You poor CorelDraw users! Freehand has an inset tool, which can be set to positive values (inset) or negative values (expand). It comes in very handy for drawing noncircular emblems and borders and hull panel lines for starship schematics. I assume Illustrator has a similar tool. I actually have CorelDraw, but have never tried using it.
