As usual I've been inspired by another thread to design a ship.
 -

Obviously a WIP but the similarities to both the D-7 and RBoP should be clear.

P.S. Those feathers were murder!

The command pod is great.
Mind if I use it in a physical model of about the same length?

Awesome look, Kris! I'm not sure exactly what purpose splitting the neck into three might serve, other than looking cool and being a sort of interim to the dual-neck design of the D'Deridex later on. IMO on smaller ships there's really no purpose to it. But other than that, it looks great! [Cool]

I'm assuming the grey parts of the neck are just support struts? Very much along the lines of some of the ship concepts and designs for ENT.

Fantastic design! I really like the 'half-way' look between the D-7 and BoP. Feathers look good too. [Wink]

They don't arrive until Tuesday [Big Grin]

Nice design... no Bat-fins or big hanging noses.
I can see subtle Klingon influence in this one...

I wonder... is this what Romulans "really" were doing... just adding necks to their classic BoP design? I wonder how klingonised Romulan BoPs would like [Smile]

Be my guest, but you might want to wait until I've finished.

Well primarily it is a visual thing to make the connection look a little more substantial that the D-7s'.
However, I do have a technical purpose in mind for them, but first I should probably explain that I think of this ship is a result of the Romulans reverse engineering the D-7s that they got from the alliance with the Klingons.
In my imagination they would have dismantled a few of these, studied them for all their worth and then use all that they have learnt to build a new, yet distinctly Romulan ship based on the new technology.

One of the improvements I imagine they might make would be to correct a problem I perceive with the Klingon design, that being the rather flimsy connection between the command and engineering section.
By adding these two extra pylons you not only reinforce structural integrity there is also the possibility that allot of the more volatile internal conduits could be routed through there.

Hold your horse boy, it's still early days yet.
Bloody 3-D artists.

Don't speak too soon. That tale is starting to look a little bat-finish, but as I said it's early days and there is allot that needs tweeking and developing.

UPDATE

As you can see the engines are taken directly from the K'tinga since (advanced) warp drive is supposedly what the Romulans got out of the bargin.

Looks great, Reverend! Reminds me somewhat of the description of the Romulan ships from the Lost Era book "Serpents Among The Ruins" (great read, BTW!). I like how you've blended elements of the TOS BoP, D-7, Movie Era K'T'Inga and TNG Warbird into it. Nicely balanced, IMO.
