Has anyone ever done a movie era Romulan Bird of Prey, one that wouldn't look out of place next to the refit Constitution and the D7/K'tinga? I've seen several designs that try to fill in the gap between the BOP and the TNG era Warbird (D'Deridex), but I don't think I've ever seen someone take the original BOP and uber-detail it.

I have indeed my friend!

Very nice, Sarah likes it too!

I like the shot of them both flying in formation. Mike the Canuck sent me that link with the title "Awww, isn't this cute!"

Glad you like her (the ship, that is)!

I've got a photoshop piece with the Firebird about half finished.

You sure wouldnt think that she started out as a TOS Surya class, would ya?

So everybody else can see what we're talking about:

This is the kind of thing I'm talking about. (I forgot about this one, Jason. Thanks.) The movies basically updated the Enterprise and the Klingon ship, and I wanted to see the same for the original Romulan BOP. The only thing that bothers me about this version, though, is that the details are too big, making the ship seem a lot smaller than it really is.

Yeah, I'd have either made the paneling thinner or added many more small panels (like the Enterprise's aztec pattern)and tiny windows to give a sense of scale.
...of course, that ship could also be KBOP sized. [Wink]

And I'd have painted it in various dark green tones.....

Of course, it's easy for us to "Armchair Model" something. [Razz]

These were designed by Christopher D. Reyes after seeing this thread. He had e-mailed me to show me these sketches. I got his approval to link directly to his webspace here.

Personally, I'm really loving this interpretation, especially the nacelles. It also has the right sense of scale that the one we were talking about last was lacking.

I *LOVE* it.

I'd go as far as to have the 'panelling' like the E-refit has for the 'saucer' section - well over the whole hull. With a darker green than the Kling BOP? Or same - showing one stole from the other?

But is Romulan green really any different from the Klingon BoP green? It seems much the same to me. Anyway, since the ENT early RBoP was already green, I'd definitely make this new Romulan ship some sort of green.

It is indeed an awesome design.
