They just plain ignored a lot of the cliffhanger, a shame since it had ended in such a brilliant way, with The Boy floating in a liferaft on an alien sea. . . the SeaQuest was dumped in a cornfield for no reason other than to look good, and the crew were returned (apart from a few they'd gotten rid of for the new series) to the place where they were happiest. For the Exec this was in a shower with his clothes on. Kinky. . . 8)
