Some of you think "Enterprise" is going to be crap.
Some people in both groups are discussing their opinions.
Some people in both groups think people in the other group are shitheads because of the fact that they disagree.
Stop flaming each other for no reason just because you disagree about the new series. If you can't handle the fact that someone disagrees w/ you on something, stop reading the threads that discuss those topics. I'm not going to claim I haven't been somewhat harsh to people about these things myself. People are adamant about what they percieve as good or bad signs about "Enterprise". I'm not saying there can't be arguements about it. Even slightly heated ones, perhaps. But the unprovoked insults are getting out of hand. Stop it. Now.
I completely agree with TSN, although I have been guilty of getting a bit too angry at those who flame me for my "calm the fuc* down" additude.
I'll even go on and say it: I'm guilty of this, too. I don't think I've gone so far as some of the stuff I'm seeing at the moment, but I was clearly crossing the line quite a few times. I began to recognize that at about noon yesterday, so I've bowed out of all the Enterprise threads for the moment. It'll give me time to cool down and think clearly about all of this.
If I've offended anyone, please accept my sincerest apologies.
Because at the moment, 90% of the threads on the Enterprise forum have degenerated into:
"Continuity is being ignored!"
"Continuity is being worshipped!"
And then people are just going on random rants. Most of the threads about Enterprise are useless at the moment, because everyone's shouting the same thing in all of them.
Besides, they're not meandering. They're just stopping and starting.
"Apparently, there will be a chair on the Enterprise."
Why are they having Klingons on Enterprise? I guess Mr Berman wants to piss all over Gene Roddenberry, cause he doesn't care about continuity. Enterprise will be awful. Evolution didn't happen".
Or vice-versa.
I post on this board because the people here tend to have much more thought-out, meaningful, civilized discussions & debates about Star Trek, the show for which all our agreements or disagreements aside, we all love. I may not agree with your opinions, and you may not agree with mine, but we should at least be respectful of other people's opinions. If people like Bernd and Masao have honest opinions about this new show which contradict the opinions of other people, that's fine. But lately I've noticed that some people are just being downright rude to others, and I'm not feeling very comfortable about it.
Bernd isn't saying that just because he's unhappy with the Akiraprize or the fact that they used a D7, that he hates Star Trek. Quite the opposite. He cares a great deal about ST, just like I do. Just look at his website.
I will always be of the opinion that the NX-01 is a blatant rip-off of the Akira. Another person here sees no resemblance whatsoever between the two ships. Neither one of us is going to convince the other, but there's nothing wrong with debating about it in a civilized manner.
And if you want to disagree with everything I've just said here, that's fine with me too.
I remember a long while ago the admins were looking for new mods, which included me as a canidate. I know the whole "If you have to ask, it's not going to happen." rule, but I still wouldn't mind giving it a shot. It is of course up to Capps...
We've been moving on filling the mod spaces, though with about the same speed as the Northern Ireland Peace Process.
No, I'm not angling for the job. He just needed thwacked.
As far as the current situation is going, I don't mind that there are people who do not like the design of the Enterprise. I understand the reasons for this hatred, but in no way do I agree with them. What is really bugging me is the constant slandering of any aspect of the show for the sole purpose of carping about it. There really isn't a need to slide in a snide remark; it's basically just a "look at me; I'm mad" comment that usually adds nothing of merit to the conversation. We've had the debates on the design of the Enterprise for months now. For god's sake, we all know how each other feels, let's let the subject die.
The other thing that is irking me to probably a higher degree are the comments about such and such on Enterprise or about Enterprise being a "slap in the face to loyal fans" or the producers "throwing punches at true fans." I take a good amount of offense to those comments. I love Enterprise. I can criticize parts of it because I don't think it's perfect and can do so constructively. But it seems to me that I cannot be considered a "true" or "loyal" fan simply because overall I enjoy Enterprise. Enough with that.
So, No.
And don't think this is gonna stop me from locking your Flameboard threads, either, so
