I really think this scene belongs in "Monty Python and The Lord of the Rings", a movie that should've been made.

Even though it wasn't.

The comics page of Dragon Magazine {targeted for the D&D crowd, occasionally making fun of people in the field} many months ago ran a multi-panel cartoon along the theme of Fantasy and future tech.

[I paraphrase wildly]

1) in a cavern, dragon asleep atop its horde of gold (ala Smaug) while a knight slowly tip-toes toward him, other members of the adventure party near by.

2) knight puts an object on the dragon, waking it. The object is a small, arrowhead-shaped object on an oval backing.

3) the knight says "ENERGIZE."

4) dragon dematerializes, leaving the golden treasure for the adventurers to take

5) one of the other party member says to the knight, "You realize that this is the last time the Dungeon Master will let us keep items taken from other dimentions."
