I have recently gotten a new mobile phone, a Motorola v551. I also have a link cable so I can transfer pictures and sound clips and what not. Presently I have loaded on my phone for a ringtune the current Doctor Who opening theme. Now, the standard Motorola sound for text messages is a tad boring but I don't know what to load onto the phone to use instead. The thought occurred to me of using the stargate kawoosh sound, and I seem to recall Aban wanting to use the same sound for the same purpose but I can't seem to find that threat to discover if he was successful in this. But I'm open to any other suggestions from everyone!

If you're using the "Doctor Who" theme for the ring, you could always use the TARDIS sound for the text messages.

I have the same phone. I also have a piece of software called MP3 Cutter Joiner which one can use to splice their MP3s into smaller bits in which you upload them into your phone. One thing though, if you decide to go this route, I recommend you reduce the bitrate to 96 kbps. In essence, you could splice out a sound effect from a song or any mp3 to use on the phone.
My list of ringtunes includes clips from the following songs:
Oasis- Supersonic Oasis- Wonderwall Train- Ordinary U2- I still haven't found what I'm looking for U2- Mysterious Ways U2- Lemon U2- Mofo U2- Stay (Faraway, so close) Coldplay- Clocks Coldplay- In My Place Coldplay- Yellow Coldplay- Speed of Sound
What I did is that I decided to set up my friends with the songs they hate the most. So since most of them hate U2 and Coldplay, it was a pretty easy setup.

Of course, the problem with having songs as ring tones is that they sound brilliant when you listen to them in your house, but the moment they come on when you are, say, at work or on the bus, you end up answering the phone as quick as possible to avoid the embarrassment of having Thus spake Zarathustra blaring out to everyone in ear shot.
(I have Ric Flair going "wooo!" as my message tone, if anyone is interested. Which they're not. One of my mates has Brad Pitt screaming "Hectar!", which seems to work well.)

It isn't as though I haven't met a lot of people. Goodness knows it isn't that. It isn't just that... it isn't... it's... it's despicable.
